Some paintings are admired from a distance; others quietly take root within you.
This study began as an attempt to learn from a nineteenth-century artwork I deeply loved, yet somewhere in the process it became something far more personal.

I wanted the forest to feel hushed, almost dreamlike, as though Navia had wandered into a memory preserved in oil paint and fading light.

Perhaps that is why I cherish masterstudies so dearly: they allow us to speak to artists long gone through our own hands. ✨

Whispers through the stillwood✨🌳🌿🤍

Hello guys🥹 it’s me again, your beloved (or maybe not) Giusy. It’s been a while, I admit it🫣
How scared am I to post this from 1 to 10? Probably 100 honestly. I’m genuinely terrified to share it because lately every time I post something that matters to me this much, it feels like handing people a tiny fragile piece of my heart and hoping they’ll be gentle with it.

As always swipe for details and more…👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻

And yes… I drew Navia again😭
At this point between Navia, Kaveh and Tartaglia I genuinely feel like I keep drawing the same comfort characters over and over, but whenever I want to create something emotional or nostalgic, I always end up thinking about her again.
I’ve been wanting to work on a new masterstudy for so long, even if these pieces always steal an absurd amount of time and energy from me. This one especially tested my patience more than I expected.
The forest in the background completely blocked me for days. I kept staring at it feeling like I had ruined everything, and honestly there was a point where I truly thought I would never finish this piece at all.

I wanted this illustration to feel quiet and melancholic, like a moment suspended somewhere between a dream and a memory. She looks small compared to the forest around her, almost swallowed by it, but at the same time there’s something peaceful in the way she stands there alone. Like she belongs to that silence. I tried to make the atmosphere feel warm but distant, comforting but also a little lonely, the kind of feeling you get when you revisit something precious that already feels far away from you.
Finishing this felt a little unreal after doubting it for so long, so I really hope at least a tiny bit of the emotion I poured into it reached you too🥹

Your support is always important, so thank you for everything.💕

Day 19 of drawing every day to improve my art skills.
A little goldfish for today’s study. I didn’t plan anything too structured, I just followed the shapes and colors as they built up, layer after layer.

I focused a lot on the contrast between the warm orange tones and the cooler, almost transparent fins. It was more about experimenting and letting the painting evolve naturally rather than controlling every step.

I think these kinds of studies help me loosen up and trust the process a bit more.

This time I wanted to look back. The same scene, the same feeling… but two different versions of me. 2024 vs 2026.

It’s strange to see how much can change without even realizing it while you’re in the process. Back then I was focusing on shapes, on getting things “right”. Now I think I pay more attention to softness, to atmosphere, to what the moment actually feels like.

It’s still the same scene from Pride and Prejudice, still one of my favorite films, still something I’m completely obsessed with. But I see it differently now, and I think that’s where the real improvement is.

Day 18 of drawing every day to improve my art skills.
This time I chose a study from Pride and Prejudice (2005), from one of the most intimate and suspended moments between Elizabeth and Darcy. What I love about this scene is how everything is held back, there’s closeness, but also hesitation, as if they’re both still carrying everything that brought them there.

While painting this, I tried to focus on that quiet tension: the warmth of their skin, the softness of their expressions, the way their hands meet so gently. It’s not a dramatic moment, but it feels incredibly intense in its own way.

This is one of my favorite films, and I’m honestly obsessed with it. And the strange thing is that this obsession never fades, it just keeps evolving, just like the way I see it every time I paint it.

Day 17 🎞️

Elizabeth Bennet, from Pride and Prejudice (2005), in that moment where Jane is gently doing her hair before the ball at Mr. Bingley’s.

It’s one of those scenes I keep going back to, simple, quiet, but full of something you can feel without needing anything dramatic.

This is my favorite film, and I’m completely obsessed with it. The kind of obsession that doesn’t go away, no matter how many times I watch it.

For this study I tried not to overwork it, focusing instead on the softness of the light and the calm before everything changes.

Sometimes it’s these small moments that stay with you the most.

Day 16🐎

This time I focused on a Friesian horse, mostly trying to understand how to give it a real sense of presence. It’s one of those subjects where everything depends on how you handle volume, too much control and it loses life, too little and it falls apart.

The hardest part was definitely the dark coat. There’s barely any margin for error: if the values aren’t clear enough, the whole structure disappears. I had to slow down and really think about how light wraps around the form instead of just placing shadows where I thought they should go.

It’s still a study, still imperfect, but I can feel that I’m starting to see things a bit differently.

My inspiring muse obviously again is navia🥰
This time I literally did what they taught me during the drawing lessons in my high school, where the teacher taught us how to faithfully reproduce a work of art🥲 it was a strange leap into the past but in a more than modern key since it is made in digital👀 but usually such a work the teacher would have made it on a canvas with the technique that we liked the most, and I would certainly have chosen oil painting as always🥹 I miss painting a lot😭 sooner or later I want to start again for now I will only (or almost) devote myself to digital because it allows me not to necessarily have to dirty my whole worktop and not to have to prepare everything I need first 🥹
I’ve been observing this work carefully for a while I had to do a couple of tests before reaching this result, because none convinced me, the subject of the painting had a somewhat particular pose, I didn’t understand how to make it the best😮‍💨 but in the end a really crazy master study came out of it that I was surprised too😂 I change a little and added some things compared to the original work💁🏼‍♀️✨
