When Flowers Become Memory

Thank youSM Bureau gallery and Artsy for this beautiful close-up on my work and artistic practice as part of the Matter in Bloom exhibition.

Please join us next Thursday, July 2nd, for an artist talk at the gallery.

โ€œRather than celebrating flowers at the height of bloom, she is drawn to quieter moments: drying petals, seed vessels, fragile stems, and forms approaching transformation.โ€
I think in flowers.

I love that my studio sometimes feels like a garden.

A language I discovered in Japan and continue to develop here in Paris.

Through Ikebana, ceramics, words, music, and daily practice, I keep exploring new ways of seeing and creating.

Now on view in the group exhibition *Matter in Bloom* at SM Bureau Gallery, Paris.

I created this porcelain vessel during my residency at Arita Porcelain Village. Carrying impressions of leaves collected across Japan and translated into porcelain through hand-building techniques, it reflects an ongoing dialogue between nature, ikebana, and memory.

Yesterday evening was the opening of the group exhibition *Matter in Bloom* at SM Bureau Gallery in Paris, where Iโ€™m presenting works in metal, flowers, and porcelain vases - exploring a meeting point between sculpture, form, and ikebana.

This exhibition feels especially meaningful to me, as these works continue my ongoing dialogue between material, nature, and intimate personal moments.

The exhibition will be on view until August 28th, and if you are in Paris, I would be very happy to welcome you there! ๐Ÿค
Eight months ago, I arrived in Paris after six years in Tokyo. I am now slowly immersing myself into life here, spending more and more time in my Paris studio, where I work on ceramic objects, jewelry, and Ikebana - bringing Japanese wisdom into my Parisian space.

Thank you to everyone who joined my ikebana and jewelry gathering today.
It was a very special moment for me to share my journey in Japan here in Paris, and to bring Japanese wisdom and beauty into this space.

Here are a few glimpses from today โœจ

Gold-coated hozuki fruit, natural dried lunaria

Immersing myself in the traditions of Ikebana, arranging a single flower to symbolize eternal life, or bending a branch inspired by a gentle autumn wind, I realized how closely intertwined my personal life was with the lives of flowers and with nature.
In my exhibition โ€œNever Is a Long Timeโ€ I create works composed of flowers, branches, leaves, and water, along with personal titles comprised of moments in my life, to express my most intimate feelings.

On view at Chelouche Gallery until Nov 1st 2025.
Bonjour tout le monde ^_^
With all the changes in my life lately, I wanted to reintroduce myself. Welcome to my universe โœจ

Iโ€™m Mirit (or Mirito ใƒŸใƒชใƒƒใƒˆ,as they called me in Japan) an artist, jewelry designer, and Ikebana artist & teacher. After six magical years in Japan, Iโ€™ve just returned to Paris with my daughter Lilia, my greatest joy โค๏ธ

Japan changed everything for me. I fell in love with Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, studied it in a Buddhist temple, and became a certified Sensei (master). I also kept creating jewelry and art, blending tradition with contemporary forms โ€” each piece tells a story.

This past year has been full of moments Iโ€™ll never forget: my first solo museum exhibition โ€œMy Life in Flowersโ€, an award at London Craft Week, and a new solo show โ€œNever Is a Long Timeโ€ in Tel Aviv. I even spent this summer in Arita, a porcelain village in south Japan, making ceramics and exploring new forms of expression

Now Paris feels like the right place to start a new chapter. My work lives in the space between cultures, between craft and art, between nature and design. Iโ€™m excited for new collaborations and new beginnings.

life is a beautiful adventureโ€ฆ and Iโ€™m so happy to share mine with you! โœจ
