Words that recur across them include moments, nature, something, that’s and feel.
It’s about those rare moments where an animal no longer feels like a subject… it feels like a soul looking back.
This little owl gave me one of those moments.
A single glance can say more than words ever could, and it’s those moments that keep pulling me back into nature.
That’s what I’m always searching for.
Not the perfect photograph.
The connection behind it.
Some encounters just feel calm.
This roe deer wasn’t panicked.
She wasn’t scared.
She just looked at me, carried on, and I gave her the space she deserved.
It was almost as if she was smiling at me.
That’s the part of wildlife photography I care about most.
Not forcing a moment.
Not chasing a shot.
Just being still enough that something wild decides you’re not a threat.
That’s connection.
Some of these made me stop and smile. Some reminded me why I keep picking up my camera and heading back out, even when I don’t know what I’ll find.
The older I get, the more grateful I become.
Grateful that I have a camera. Grateful that I can walk to these places. Grateful that wildlife continues to share these moments with me.
It’s easy to think we need more to be happy. Better gear. More money. More opportunities.
But sometimes all we really need is the chance to step outside, slow down, and appreciate what’s already there.
Thank you to everyone who’s chosen to follow this journey. The fact that these moments mean something to other people makes every early morning and every long walk worth it.
Today, I had three moments that reminded me exactly why.
Not because they’re my best photos, but because each one made me feel something.
Those quiet moments where nothing is forced… you’re simply sharing the same space for a few seconds.
And if you look closely at the deer photo, you’ll even spot what appears to be a soldier beetle flying perfectly between the deer’s ears.
If these moments resonate with you, I’d love to have you along for the journey.
I can walk into a room and feel the atmosphere before anyone says a word. I notice the little changes in people, the things that often go unspoken.
It wasn’t until recently that I realised not everyone experiences life that way.
When I started spending more and more time in nature, I realised that same awareness followed me there.
I don’t believe my wildlife photography is just about camera settings or fieldcraft.
It’s about slowing down enough to notice.
To sense when something changes.
To feel when an animal is comfortable, curious, or alert.
That connection is what I love most.
It isn’t about collecting photographs.
It’s about sharing moments that can’t be forced.
I’m curious… does any of this resonate with you, or do you experience the world differently?
For the last few weeks I’d noticed foxes, hares and roe deer using a small bridge to cross the river, so I decided to get there early, set up my bag hide and wait.
I lay there for three hours.
Nothing crossed the bridge.
Not once did I feel like I’d wasted my time though. Sitting quietly in nature never feels wasted to me. While I was there, I could hear a kingfisher calling up and down the river. I knew it was nearby the whole time.
Eventually I watched it fly over the top of me, and something told me it was time to move.
I went back to the stretch of river where I usually sit, tucked myself behind the teasels, stayed completely still, and within a few minutes the kingfisher landed right in front of me.
Fresh from the water, the evening light caught every feather. It perched there for a while, and for a few quiet seconds I found myself completely lost in the moment. Those are the moments I go out looking for. Not because I can control them, but because every now and then nature allows you to be part of them.
As the light began to fade, I packed up, watched a beautiful sunset on the walk back, and headed home.
Days like today remind me that not every plan works out. Sometimes you’ll wait for hours and nothing happens. Sometimes you change direction at the last moment and nature gives you something you never expected.
That’s why I keep going back. Not because I expect to see something every time… but because I never know when the next unforgettable moment will come.
Swans are one of the birds people see most often.
But how often do we actually stop and watch them?
Not just a quick glance as we walk past, but really watch.
The way they move. The tiny details. The moments most people never notice because life is moving too fast.
That’s what nature gives me.
Not an escape.
A reminder to be present.
Sometimes, everything you need is already right in front of you.
It was written over years of early mornings, long walks, difficult days, loss, reflection, and countless moments spent in nature trying to make sense of life.
Many of you know me through my wildlife photography, but this book goes much deeper than the photographs. It’s the story behind them.
It’s about grief, healing, slowing down, paying attention, and the lessons nature has taught me along the way.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by life, disconnected from yourself, or simply needed somewhere quiet to breathe, I hope you’ll find something in these pages.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. ❤️
No big goal. No direction.
But over time… I started to understand why I was doing it.
Not for the photos.
Not for the numbers.
For this.
Because getting out into nature pulled me through some heavy days.
It gave me space when my head was loud.
It slowed everything down when life felt too fast.
And somewhere out there…
you start to feel like yourself again.
That’s what I’m trying to show you.
Not just what I see… but what it does to you.
If you’ve ever felt lost, overwhelmed, or just not quite right—
get outside. Walk. Sit. Breathe. Watch.
Let it bring you back.
And if someone came to mind while watching this…
send it to them.
Today tested me, but as I watched my video before posting, I felt it deep down…
This is what I’m here to do
