참여 작가들은 각자의 방식으로 자연을 바라보고,
그 안에서 발견한 색과 감정, 기억의 흔적을 작품 속에 섬세하게 담아냅니다.
이들이 포착한 초록의 조각들은 우리에게 익숙한 풍경의 일부이자,

In 2017, I stopped my artistic practice and began working at a company to prove my social utility. However, I felt a growing sense of emptiness within the rigid routine, only finding a moment to breathe as I passed a small park on my commute. The colors and rhythms of the park provided a sense of stability, eventually leading me to pick up the brush again to translate these sensations into art. Since then, I have focused on converting the sensory elements experienced while exploring urban forests into an abstract language.
When the pandemic began in 2020 and the city came to a halt, I had the opportunity to more deeply explore the emotional stability and flow provided by nature within the city. My work is not a mere depiction of scenery, but a process of recording the sensory traces and the psychological balance found in urban environments. Rather than reproducing nature as it is, I build up layers of brushstrokes and color to reconstruct the impressions and sensations it leaves upon us.

갤러리41과 함께 미국 시카고에서 4월 9일부터 12일까지 진행되는 EXPO CHICAGO에 참여하게 되었습니다. 작년에 이어 두 번째로 참여하게 되어 더욱 뜻깊고 감사한 마음입니다. 올해에도 시카고에서 작품을 선보일 수 있도록 기회를 주신 갤러리41 대표님과 항상 애써주시는 시원 큐레이터님 께 진심으로 감사드립니다. 시카고에서 많은 분들과 좋은 시간으로 이어지길 바랍니다.

작업을 지속하는 동안 나는 반복적으로 질문한다. 작가로서의 삶 속에서 나는 무엇을 남기고자 하는가, 그리고 내가 말하고자 하는 이야기는 무엇인가. 내려놓아야 할 것들과 끝내 붙잡고 있어야 할 것은 어떻게 구분되는가. 손가락 사이로 흘러내리는 것들을 인지하면서도, 그럼에도 쥐고 있어야 하는 어떤 감각에 대해 고민한다.
이 과정은 타인의 기준이나 리듬을 따르는 것이 아니라, 나만의 장단을 형성해가는 일에 가깝다. 나에게 예술은 인간의 실존적 고뇌와 지난한 삶을 통과시키며, 그것을 견딜 수 있는 상태로 이끄는 일종의 수행이다.
“작업이란 인간의 실존적 고뇌와 작가의 지난한 삶을 구원으로 이끌어줄 일종의 종교적 수행 과정이었다” (『그들도 있었다 1』, p.191)
나는 여전히 불확실한 불안이 전유된 공간 속에서 살아간다. 그리고 그 불안은 작업의 출발점이자 지속의 조건으로 작동한다. 결국 이러한 감각과 질문들은 작업을 멈추지 않고 지속하는 과정 속에서만 비로소 드러난다고 믿는다. 그렇기에 나는 이 불안을 해소하기보다, 끌어안은 채 계속해서 작업을 이어간다.
