A great adventure is always brewing. Minimal expectations, great company, incredible scenery, and a whole lot of roads to be travelled.

I bought this bike nearly two years ago for a bikepacking trip on the Sunshine Coast, not really knowing if I would enjoy it or continue pursuing this kind of adventure. Truthfully, I only went on one more bikepacking trip before this big Japan journey. Fast forward to boxing the bike up for the flight, freshly kitted out with new bike bags that I did not even know would fit. Oddly enough, I was not worried at all. I was just stoked to be heading out on another adventure with my good buddy.

I think I have grown used to our trips never having a set or defining plan, yet somehow always working out. That was very much Japan. We had a rough idea of how we would make our way back to Tokyo, but beyond that, it was up to us and whatever the days decided to offer. Routes changed, plans shifted, and we rolled with it. And of course all good vibes were elevated when joined the crew!

With that, here is another collection of coloured images from our Japanese adventures.

I am not sure how many sets I will end up sharing, but there is still a whole lot more to come. Shot 3 & 8, always making me look sick
A bountiful of wildlife.

My last post from Botswana, at least for now (hopefully you enjoy them). One of the things I love most about photographing wildlife is how no two moments are ever the same. Each interaction feels fleeting and entirely its own, and that is what makes these images mean so much more. Knowing you will likely never witness or replicate that exact moment again makes it all feel that much more intentional.

People and adventure sports are still what I love photographing most, but stepping outside of familiar spaces and experiencing a new form of photography feels important to my overall creative journey.
Continuing my Botswana series, I bring you the Okavango Delta

The world’s largest inland delta, it is home to thousands of plant and animal species. From large mammals like hippos to tiny Painted Reed frogs, spending a handful of days here it was incredible seeing the vastness of this beautiful part of Botswana.
Vivid moments from the Botswana 🇧🇼

I went to Botswana in 2023 and have been letting these images sit on my hard drives for the past two years.

As someone who primarily photographs mountain environment I wasn’t entirely sure I’d share these images on here but after spending hours looking through images it felt right to share them.

More from Botswana coming soon…

Merry Christmas 🎄
Hi 👋🏼

It’s been a minute since I’ve shared much about me (I don’t if I ever have), allow me to introduce myself. Name is Mike, I was born and raised and currently still live in Calgary, Canada.

Becoming a photographer wasn’t my original plan and you could almost say it happen by accident. I completed my bachelor of science in chemical engineering. Then shortly after graduating, threw myself into it.

Over the years I’ve bounced around with different style of photography, mostly in the outdoor space, mixing in environmental portraits and landscapes to name a few. At the moment, I take a lot of joy taking photos that tell interesting stories whether that be outdoor or not. I flip flop back and forth when people ask me what kind of photos I take, but maybe the best way to describe is outdoor adventure lifestyle (???).

Outside of taking photos, I enjoy climbing, running, hiking, camping, the gym, a solid true crime series and maybe a half dozen other things. It’s some times hard to balance all my interest, but on the bright side a lot of them some how connect back to photography in the end.

Honestly don’t know what else to share without making this extremely long, but feel free to ask whatever else you want to know in comments.

Also just want to say “Thank you” to all of you for following along on my adventure and to all the rad people in my life who help make this all possible.

✌🏼
Enjoying a beautiful day in the alpine.
A view out into alpine paradise. Not a bad place to call home for the night.
