As the noble metals are embedded in the fibers of the paper, the image literally becomes a part of it. The process dates to 1873, when William Willis, a British inventor, patented it.
It’s a beautiful process and one that I’ve enjoyed learning. I’m not quite there yet, but these are some of my favorite prints so far. Much like wet plate, each print is hand-crafted and unique.
