These last years have been the most difficult of my life. From self disappointment to even bearing death to the closest being you can ever have in your life. But, hard times create strong men, And I firmly believe that these last 2 years I have grown so much more than the other 30 years I have lived. Use the adversity to grow and put your life together. Use difficult situation to step out of the hole, and i don't write this post looking down on others as if I'm inmutable and always strong. On the contrary i write somehow to myself, as a reminder that im still here, fighting for what i want to achieve and I want to be in life.

Remember, no matter how lost or lonely you feel don't bury down your pain. There is always somebody by your side willing to help.

I love very simple photos, as natural as possible. I rarely alterate the physical appearance of people, im not that kind of photographer.
What i like to do is include my subject in the environment, blend them in the scene and use Natural light. But a very important thing is COLOR and COMPOSITION.

Composition, if you follow me for quite some time you know i love the grid of Dynamic Symmetry to compose my images and these photos are not cropped so they are as i saw them through the viewfinder. this grid helps to create balance and helps with the way human eyes read images because add flow and guidance. the purpose of the grid is position elements of your photo in the intersection points also that follow the lines of the grig exactly on it or pararell to it.

Color and harmonies bring richness to the photos and humans love complexity not just plain colors. Add complexity to the Shadows, Midtones, and highlights. and create the harmony based on existing colors on your images. In this case the colors were Green and Red very predominant and i created a harmony based on those to create an image pleasing to see.

let's see if you can figure out the tones used for the Shadows, midtones and highlights! 🤔 Write ✍️them in the comments🗨️ and we will be talking about it 🙌🏼🙌🏼.

How to earn trust of your model?
Well, first and most obvious.

•DON'T BE A CREEP. Sadly is super common to see photographers acting weird during photoshoots flirting, commenting about the model's body, touching them to "explain the pose they want" that's zero profesional.

•Show the model your pictures you're taking, the current result, how the photos look. Is uncomfortable being in front of the lens not knowing if you like the results, or if you see something you might not like, and that leads to the next point.

•Listen to your model's feedback. They are not products. Yes you're the artist creating the image but let's not forget we re working with people, if the model feel and see they're being listened they will feel more secure with you.

•Spend time with them before the shooting. This one is not possible sometimes, but if you have the chance do it. Set expectations, bring examples of what you want and let the model bring examples as well, their vision might bring valuable insight you didn't considered before, remember, We don't know it all!!

•Let them be! don't give negative feedback about how they are posing or the expression on their faces. If you don't like something, just say: "That's awesome, but now let's try this or that" and show the before and after your suggestions so they can see the difference between how they were posing and the result after the corrections you did.

I hope that helps and please let me know in the comments if I missed something or your approach to earn your model's trust.

I firmly believe that biggest part of the job of a photographer, is not creating compelling images. But help your clients, models, relatives or whoever poses in front of your lens, to feel good, to see themselves in a way they never saw before and help them to build trust on themselves because of your photos..

I almost never trigger the shot when they are posing, i do it when they are talking and interacting with other people in the room. You gotta be quick and be prepared because that spark in their eyes, that smile that doesn't look forced, won't last more than a second, but this in my opinion leads to more natural and beautiful photos.

What do you think about that, is it is really part of a photographer's job?

Hey everyone I'm back.

After 5 months of not posting.

But I think pauses are mandatory in life, no matter what you do. Whether is art, work on any industry, writing, whatever it is. When you pause you have the chance to rethink, analize and envision the path you wan to take to achieve your goals.

If you have been following my work for quite some time, you know I'm always moving. I started doing "landscapes" then travel photography, then "macro" and portraits and lastly product photography.

You need to try things in order to find your passion, what moves you, what makes feel work like it's just a game or something you really enjoy it and for me that's photography. I was involved in Metal bands, dance groups, theater when I was in school. Always something related to art. But if living of art is difficult everywhere, in Costa Rica is Hardcore mode, and despite that I will be promoting myself as photographer, more and more, something I've been afraid of because I always think my work is not good enough to be considered a photographer and that have been holding back my growth in this field.

Last but not least I want you to go to the profile of and buy one cake, trust me you will thank me later. Polina is the best pastry 🍰🎂 chef you will know. Every cake is a piece of art.

Colours, that's so important and something I'm learning but there is so much to read about.

I realized most of the time people do reasonably good photos but they screw it up in "post production" with the colours. Not good editing or poor colour choices.

I came across a photographer called Joanna Kustra she is a master colouring and there is an amazing webinar on youtube, that even though I'm a complete beginner I have learned quite a bit. She explains a lot colours, theory and harmony.

The photos I'm posting today are not master pieces or whatsoever, but in my opinion they look good just by the colour choices I did for the Shadows, mid, and high tones. This is something every visual artist should learn instead of buying more and even expensive gear thinking their photos will look better.

What do you think, Does colours play an important part? Or does gear really make a difference? Should we invest in knowledge or in gear?

Set an attitude about your skills and abilities, to the point, you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life, do it until You know your strengths and weakness so well, tht you have a positive view of yourself, to set realistic expectations and goals, communicate assertively, and handle criticism.
________________

One of the most difficult things about self confidence (specially in social media) it's learn to handle criticism.

People will often say: "I don't care what people think" "it's my life" "I do what I want" but the reality is different. We find ourselves in the loneliness of our room, overthinking and going around with thoughts about what X person said about us or about the art we do. How do you overcome it? How to fight the thoughts that won't let you sleep at night?

The human is tribal and this, make human beings search for a sense of belonging, and when your "tribe" doesn't seem to like what you do, you feel excluded.

How do you beat that monster?

We all got that spark, Yes in our eyes. That's the "this person has something" that "I don't know what it is" we often hear.

We can see it in people But rarely you get this on photos or at least that's what I think.

And that's why I like candid moments 📸 microseconds of the real person I have in front of my camera.

If you have done photos with me, you know I'm taking photos when you don't expect it. And I always love these results.

Do you prefer candid or planned poses for photos? Or Do you think it depends on the occasion?

Social media often give us a false sense of friendship and not feeling alone.

We "talk" with many people and interact each other, but the reality is different. In my opinion, specially here in Costa Rica, and this sounds awful, but after interacting so much with Russians(their word is most valuable than gold) I realized, for Costa Ricans, word doesn't mean shit.

We often say we will do, change, promise things, but these words are like a leaf in a strong wind. Sadly this is translated to the quality of our friendships and relationships. I often hear stories of my friends(or should I call them acquaintances) talking about awful things their friends did.

And that is the reason why my circle is really small. There are just 3 or 4 people I normally hangout with, even though I know a good amount of people.

That small circle makes me value more the time i spend and promises I do(I keep breaking a lot of them) but I'm making an effort to improving this trait that my people lack.

Giving value to your word and friendship.

How important is word for you? And does people in your country value the word?

The group pressure, social media, family, all want you to rush, get things now. Finish your career, get a car, get on debt to buy a house or an apartment, get stressed with all you have to pay now. Have kids, raise them, worry much more because now you're responsable for other lives.

The rat race, the necessity to finish all, right now.

I'm a lay back person, and sometimes I have discussions with people I care because of my attitude, it takes me soooo long to react. But at the same time, I enjoy the ride. I don't get stressed by many things. But how much of this is good? At what point this is causing your life detriment?

I can achieve more, I can have more. If get up and work I can get what I want because I have seen it. I've gotten what I wanted when I wanted it

It's weird because sometimes I feel bad, and sometimes I feel good with how I live my life.

But do I really need more?
Do you really need more?

How do you go through life?
