Oisin Roger’s and Charlie Carroll’s …
A lovely cosy boozer serving quite possibly the best Guinness 🇮🇪 in the city (it’s certainly up there) and fantastic classic British 🇬🇧 cuisine cooked in a furnace 🔥 overlooking the restaurant.
We went for:
Beef cheek and Guinness suet pudding pie
Sirloin steak with triple cooked chips
Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream
Exceptional spot. Deserving of the hype.

The first restaurant in the UK to get a Michelin star ⭐️(and also the first to get three ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ) Le Gavroche (now 2 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ )is not just a restaurant but an institution that has trained some of the world’s best chefs 👨🍳 👩🍳 such as Gordon Ramsey, Marco Pierre White, Marcus Wareing and Paul Rankin.
We went off the A La Carte menu and I went for:
🧀 Soufflé Suissesse Cheese Souffle Cooked on Double Cream (an absolute must)
🥩 Fillet of Hereford Beef, Smoked Heart & Wild Mushroom Tartlet, Red Wine Sauce
🍨 Hot Passion Fruit Soufflé with White Chocolate Ice Cream (incredible)
The meal was superb from start to finish. Really glad I made it to institution before it closed its doors for good.

Located in Jacob’s Barracks – a restored 18C building overlooking the Swedish Gate – the menu offers classical flavours with touches of creativity.
We went for the taster menu which was a lot of fun. Highlights were the venison chop and a beautiful catfish dish. It also started with the most extra bread course I’ve ever had 💁♂️.
In the past couple of weeks the restaurant has also received recognition from the Michelin guide. Much deserved… it’s definitely going places.

We tried a variety of local snacks from grey pea balls to deep fried pigs 🐖 ears with cayenne pepper 🫑.
But the dish of the day was salted herring tartare 🐟, cottage cheese, pickled onions, potatoes and herbs. Fantastic.
The local craft beers were great too!
