Fall in British Columbia can often times be a rainy one, but when the sun comes out and the leaves are starting to change it truly makes for some of the most magical conditions! 🍂🙌
This time of year is definitely one of my favourites to re-do hikes I have done in the past! It is so cool seeing how a place fully transforms as the seasons change, especially when the changes are as vibrant and magical as this spot near Alder Flats in Golden Ears Provincial Park! 🥾
During the spring and summer this area is so lush and green, but as the seasons change the vine maples along the trail erupt with so many shades of red, orange, and yellow that it truly feels like you’re walking into a painting! They are by far my favourite trees to see change during this time of year just because of how dramatically they can transform an already stunning area! 😍
So although the rainy pnw weather may be settling in this week, I know that there will be some more fall sunshine waiting for us soon in the future! For now, I’ll be reminiscing on this beautiful day and embracing some of the moody weather and the magic I know it will still bring, and I hope you will too 🌧️🍂🥰
Which do you prefer: sunny autumn days or moody ones? 🌧️🍂☀️

Fall will forever be my favourite season, and although I haven’t been hiking as much lately I have definitely been embracing all the fall vibes in every way I can 🍂🙌 Whether it’s
🎃 visiting all the pumpkin patches
👻 decorating for Halloween (my decorations have been up since mid-September 🫣)
🍂 peeping all the changing leaves
📖 reading all the horror and thriller books I can find
🥧 eating fall treats
🔮playing cozy games (me 🤝 Hogwarts Legacy)
🍿 watching all the horror movies
💛 and spending quality time with love ones
i have truly felt so at home and content lately and i am so incredibly grateful 🥰
This time of year would often feel quite stressful for me. Sometimes there can be a lot of pressure to see all the colours, visit all the different places, and always be on the go. But lately I’ve been taking a bit of step back to heal my relationship with this app and find a balance that works for me. Things may be different this year, but it feels right for me right now 💛
So whether you’re out embracing all the fall colours, staying cozy at home, or somewhere in between, I hope that Fall has been treating you well and that you have been able to find magic right where you are! This season is truly full of it 🥰🍂💛
What has your favourite Fall activity been lately? 🍂🎃🥧☕️🌻🔮📖💛

Although I will forever be an autumn girl, seeing summer slowly fade away into fall has been a bit bitter sweet lately 🥺 This summer has been filled with so many little moments of joy, and this morning up at Sumas Mountain was such a perfect example of that!
When I first pitched my tent up here I was in such awe at all the lights I saw below! I had never seen this perspective of the valley before, so to see the stars above my tent’s roof and the lights of the city below at the same time was truly so amazing! 🌌✨
After listening to my audiobook for a few hours while watching the lights below, I soon began to see the soft golden glow of sunrise creeping from behind the mountains and became giddy with excitement! With fog below in the valley and some fluffy clouds in the sky, I knew I was in for a magical sunrise! 😍🌄✨
As the sun continued to rise over the valley it began to cast the most amazing sun rays onto the landscape below! Soon the sky began to transform as the colours shifted from vibrant pink and oranges to soft yellow and peachy hues! It was truly such a sight that I couldn’t help but dance around the mountain with happiness 🥹
It’s moments like this that are going to make me miss the magic of summer, but I know that there is so much to embrace as fall begins to settle in! For now, you can find me out here savouring every last moment with the summer sun 🥰☀️
Would you get up to watch sunrise from up here? 🌄✨

There are a couple of trails I revisit quite often, but this one has to be one of the ones that truly holds a special place in my heart! It’s the first trail I ever hiked solo, the first place I experienced a cloud inversion, and has been my go-to spot to hike when I’m feeling down or just need to reconnect 💛
Something about sitting on this rock and looking down at the lake below always has a way of making me feel so comforted; like no other worry or thought matters in that moment. Every time I visit I have this place to myself, and each time I find myself spending hours here just letting time slip away 🏔️
You can never really predict how a spot is going to impact you until you visit, and I never thought this spot would mean so much to me and be such a significant part of my growth as a whole! But no matter what season of life I find myself in, this spot is always there to greet me like an old friend and my hope is that everyone finds a place that makes them feel just that 🥹🏔️🌿
So tell me: what is it that makes your favourite spot so special to you? 🥰

Now let’s get one thing straight: you, me, EVERYBODY belongs in the outdoors! But that doesn’t mean that these feelings aren’t real and don’t affect us. There are so many factors that can lead you or I to feel like we don’t belong, but my hope is that by having conversations about these things we can
1) Normalize these feelings and help others feel less alone
and 2) Verbalize these thoughts so they have less power over us so we can realize just how worthy we are💛
For me, I sometimes feel like I don’t belong because…
🥾 I’m not as fit as every body else; I take a million breaks and take a longer than others which makes me feel inferior
🏔️ I’m not constantly hiking higher and longer trails and exploring new areas; I feel like I always have to do more to prove my worth
❤️🩹 I feel I don’t “look the part” - I feel like there is a certain aesthetic and body type that is typical for the outdoors, and I feel that mine doesn’t fit that mold
🗺️ I didn’t grow up hiking; I always feel behind or too “uneducated”
🧍🏻♀️As a female solo hiker, I often feel less worthy of taking up space on the trail; I feel that others look down on me or judge because I don’t have others to go with
🎒 I don’t have the best or fanciest gear - overconsumption has made it feel like you’re constantly not prepared if you’re not up to date on gear
At the end of the day I know these are just my thoughts and insecurities talking; they don’t reflect the truth that everyone belongs! I also understand that there are many more systemic and accessibility-related reasons why many may feel like they don’t belong 💛 By continuing the conversation, I hope we can create a sense of community that understands one another and works towards making the outdoors a space for all 🥰
Which points do you resonate with? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Vancouver hike | British Columbia hike | the Fraser valley | backcountry camping | solo hike | solo travel | beautiful destinations | hikes near Vancouver | tent camping
The Pacific Northwest is home to hundreds of fire lookouts, and although many are no longer in service they often offer an incredible opportunity to camp out at some of the most amazing locations! 🏔️🙌
So whether you’re looking for lookouts in British Columbia, Washington, or even Oregon, here are some tips to make this bucket list item a reality:
🏔️ How to find and book fire lookouts - resources like recreation. gov, firelookout. org, bcparks. ca, national forest foundation,,, and many blogs offer amazing lists
📝 How to book - some places are online reservation only, others are first come first served, while others are visit only; check your location online before heading out and know that you may be sharing the lookout with others
⛺️ What to pack - some lookouts are well stocked while others are empty; always come prepared with a tent and all camping essentials in case the lookout is full or is not stocked with a stove, beds, etc
🐭 Wildlife - many lookouts have mice and other wildlife nearby; be sure to hang up your packs and store food in bear canister or box
✨Fun tips - I definitely recommend bringing some fairy lights and fun games to make the space feel cozy and fun 🥰
💛 and of course be sure to follow Leave No Trace Principles and respect those you are sharing the space with
Would you stay here? What would you bring to make the experience that much more magical? 🥰✨

One of my favourite things to do near Vancouver in the Summer time is find a beautiful creek or river and embrace the warm weather like a magical water fairy! 🧚✨ and with the abundance of beautiful emerald blue waters we have here in BC, the possibilities are truly never ending!
So if you’re looking for some spots to cool off and swim this summer, here are some to check out:
✨North Beach Trail, Golden Ears Provincial Park
🩵 Widgeon Creek, Pitt Meadows
🧚 Davidson’s Pool, Maple Ridge
🌿 Lynn Canyon 30 Foot Pool, North Vancouver
✨ Coquitlam River Park, Coquitlam
🩵 Chehalis River, Harrison
🧚 Squamish Valley, Squamish
For more secluded areas, I definitely suggest picking up a book and explore your local creeks! You never know what gems you might find! 💎
⚠️ Always check conditions before swimming in any body of water, do not enter water with fast moving water or rapids, and always practice Leave No Trace Principles when recreating safely
Which spot would you check want to check out? 😍🩵

When I first discovered this spot over 3 years ago, I always dreamed of being able to camp at a fire lookout like this! I was always too nervous or felt I was too inexperienced to make it happen, but this past weekend I finally said, “Let’s do it!”, packed up all our gear the night before, and headed out to make some beautiful memories! ⛺️🏔️✨
There were so many moments from this trip, but here are 10 photos that represent some of my favourites:
🌼 1- Arriving at the fire lookout and admiring all the wildflowers surrounding it
🌄 2-4 Taking in the sunset with my mug that perfectly described how I felt in this moment
✨ 5 - Setting up our sleeping bags and hanging up the fairy lights for the cutest step up ever 🥹
🍜 6 - Having dinner with the dreamiest view
💛 7 - Relaxing in the hammock after dinner
🏔️ 8 - Admiring Mt Baker from the windows of the fire lookout
🌌 9-10 The most stars I have ever seen in my life! (even saw some shooting stars too!)
Although the grind up to this spot felt never ending with our packs on, this trip made my heart soar in so many unbelievable ways and has made me so eager for the next trip! If you’ve been thinking about doing a certain trip, let this be the sign to go do it! I promise you will be so grateful you did! 🥰💛

Although there are many classic sunset spots in the lower mainland, one of my favourite things to do at the beginning of each season is find new and unique places to catch a dreamy sunset, and I think this spot along Hunter Trail in Mission has become my new favourite! 🥰
On this day I had originally planned to catch the northern lights up here, but when I saw that the likelihood for a good sunset was high this evening I knew I had to head out early to se if I could catch some magic! ✨
Now for most of the year this spot isn’t the best for catching sunset, but in the summer the sun moves just far enough north that it casts the most dreamy glow on the surrounding mountains and lake below! When I arrived the sun was just starting to dip below the horizon, and as time went on the sky began to transform into an array of yellows, oranges, and pinks! I quickly settled in and watched in awe at the dreamy sky, and although I was there for the northern lights I honestly think the sunset stole my heart a bit more 🥹🌄
So with sunshine in the forecast for the foreseeable future here in the lower mainland, I encourage you to venture out to explore some new spots to catch sunset! Whether it’s in the mountains, by a lake, or just in a field somewhere, there is always a new magical sunset spot waiting to be discovered! 🥰🌄
Have you caught a sunset at this spot yet? ✨
