On April 11, Meghan wore a black Veronica Beard blouse paired with a Carolina Herrera houndstooth maxi skirt while attending a performance of the Broadway musical Gypsy. While she had a lot of really excellent looks this year, I keep coming back to this one as the perfect balance between elegant & fun. The button down blouse + long skirt is a signature Meghan outfit combo, & while she did stick to her preferred neutrals the bold pattern of the skirt & contrasting top felt like something a little different. The open neckline of the blouse & that stunningly sparkling tennis necklace brought the focus up to her smiling face & those gorgeous waves (2025 was a year of flawless down-dos for her). This was also a year of great casual outfits from Meghan, with my runner up choice being a layered look from With Love Season 2 that I am literally obsessed with.
On May 22, Kate attended the naming ceremony for the HMS Glasgow, wearing a navy blue & white coatdress by Suzannah London & a coordinating Philip Treacy hat, a rewear from 2022’s Trooping the Colour. At the time, I said “It may only be June, but this outfit is a strong contender for my favorite Kate look of the year,” and over the ensuing months that has held true! Making a decision on Kate’s looks this year was maybe the toughest choice I’ve encountered since starting this series back in 2019. For me, it was such a close race between this look & her gold & white Philipa Lepley gown. But ultimately, given the chance I would have swapped out the tiara on that look - and I felt like this one was utterly perfect. The coat itself was a beautiful piece & fit Kate so well, and each accessory was perfectly chosen to complement it beautifully. The return of an iconic hat, a flawless updo, & the choice of a beige heel (always guaranteed to make my millennial heart sing) made this an all around 10/10, no notes look for me.

Best of Invictus: It was a tough choice, but Meghan’s luxe combo of a Doen blazer, La Ligne sweater, & Veronica Beard jeans was a masterclass in layering & won out as my favorite outfit from the winter Games.
Best in Matching Sets: 2025 was the year of the matching set for Meghan. Though we only caught a quick glimpse of this one by Farm Rio, the vibrant, unique, and super cute summery pieces made it a major standout for me.
Best in Brights:This rich yellow ensemble from Jenni Kayne looked like a floaty lemon meringue dream I wish I could jump right into. Like many others, I’m a huge fan of Meghan in bright colors, & as we don’t get to see her in them too often, each time is like a special treat.
Dreamiest Dress: In the same vein, I also always love the rare occasions on which Meghan opts for super feminine styles. This vaguely ‘50s-inspired Carolina Herrera dress was a perfect example of that, with an extra layer of sweetness added by the print which features Lily of the Valley, Archie’s birth flower (and mine!).
Best of WLM: Once again it was a tough call but I think this Anine Bing/La Ligne/Doen look was my favorite of all the outfits worn during With Love, Meghan. It’s effortlessly cool & perhaps the look I would love most to have replicated in my own closet.
Chicest: Meghan’s black Balenciaga dress was the stuff of Paris Fashion Week dreams. You could tell she felt amazing in it, & it’s not hard to see why.
Best in Red Carpet: This rewear of an Armani suit proves just what a difference styling can make. Paired with an Anine Bing necklace, this look was a fresh, elevated take on a classic.
Most Classic: Speaking of which. This monochrome ivory look by Gabriela Hearst & Brochu Walker brought back all the best hallmarks of Meghan’s full time working royal era, as well as her Suits era style If it ain’t broke....

Best in Repeat: I was so excited & pleased to see the return of this blue Alexander McQueen suit. While Kate owns it in several colors, the blue is one of my favorites & this styling was perfection - especially that Laura Lombardi necklace.
Best in Pink: Many of us have been wishing & hoping to see Kate in Dior for years, & this look delivered flawlessly.
Best in Brights: This Roksanda dress was another in a long line of Kate’s winning Wimbledon styles. The cut & color were stunning on her & best of all she looked glowing & incredibly happy.
Most Unexpected: I was surprised to find myself adding an Alessandra Rich design to this list, but I loved this dress Kate wore in September. It reminded me a lot of her style as Duchess of Cambridge & I thought it was a lovely, classic look that complemented her so well.
Best in Suiting: This Bella Freud was my favorite new suit that Kate wore this year. I did strongly prefer its first appearance, when it was paired with a black top & accessories, making for a beautiful contrast in pattern & shade.
Closest Call: This Phillipa Lepley gown was SO close to being my Favorite Look of the Year. It was a true jaw dropper in what has been a year of excellent evening looks from Kate (see below).
Best in Red Carpet: This green velvet Talbot Runhof gown was absolutely made for Kate. Paired with some of the most gorgeous diamond earrings in her collection it made for an utterly perfect winter glam look.
Biggest Surprise: It was so exciting to see Kate wear the Ruby Circlet Tiara for the first time, and her choice of gown to go with it could not have been better. I do feel like the tiara overshadowed the dress a little, so I would love to see a rewear of this sparkly, princessy confection in the coming year!

’s Least Favorite Meghan Looks. Annual disclaimer: Any criticisms expressed here are solely about the clothes, and not the person wearing them. I always think twice about including this part of the series, but as a style commentary page least favorites of the year is a topic I’d like to discuss, and I think (and hope) we can do so in an appropriately kind & compassionate way.
I appreciated that Meghan largely kept things simple with her wardrobe for the With Love series, but a few of the looks were just not to my personal taste. The nautical print Emilia Wickstead dress seen in Season 1 was one of these - the high neck of the dress just looked a little uncomfortable, and the pattern was not my fave. I also didn’t love the orangey-brown Sezane dress from a few episodes later, the overall design of the dress was okay but I did not love the circular belt buckle and the color felt oddly harsh to my eyes. Finally, the striped Carolina Herrera dress from Season 2 just did not do Meghan justice in my opinion. While I normally love CH pieces, this one was a miss for me.
In another instance of what feels like sacrilege, I have to include Meghan’s Balenciaga look from the house’s Paris Fashion Week show. Someone said it was giving cult leader and I cannot get that out of my head 😭🫢Never in my life did I think I could or would mention “custom Balenciaga” and “least favorite” in the same breath, but 2025 brought a lot of not so great surprises and this is just another one of those.
Lastly, Meghan’s look for World Mental Health Day was a little disappointing for me, I didn’t think the top & pants were the greatest match, and the accessories felt a little random. For me this was an example of a look that didn’t really work without its top layer, which was a shame because we barely got to see the coat!

I always think twice about including this part of the series, but as a style commentary page least favorites of the year is a topic I’d like to discuss, and I think (and hope) we can do so in an appropriately kind & compassionate way.
As always, this year brought a couple of looks that I just did not vibe with. In January, Kate brought back her Zara dress & Christopher Kerr coat for an incredibly sweet visit to Wales. This dress has never been a favorite of mine (though it clearly is for her, & I love that she feels comfortable in it!) and overall the look just did not give what I had hoped for.
Her look for the VE Service of Thanksgiving in May also had me shaking my head. It admittedly wasn’t the easiest look to accessorize, but the result just felt haphazard.
I wasn’t a fan of either the olive Victoria Beckham or black Alexander McQueen suit looks Kate brought out in May & September, respectively. Obviously the common denominator here was the ruffled white blouse by Knatchbull - again, this is not an easy style to wear and for me it did Kate no favors. I much preferred the second wear of the green suit later on in the year!
Speaking of green, the green & brown look Kate put together for an event in September was another that fell a little flat for me. While the individual pieces had potential, together the proportions felt off & the whole look made me a bit sad 😕
Clearly, it was a tough year for me with ruffles as Kate’s Remembrance Sunday look also made my list, purely due to the lace jabot. For me this look just had too much going on, though I was really happy Kate decided to wear her hair down for the occasion this year.

For her Christmas look this year the princess opted for a repeat, bringing back her brown plaid coat. This was the fifth outing for the piece, which we first caught a glimpse of on Christmas in 2021. Kate also wore it in January, February, and August this year, though during the latter appearance we once again only saw her very briefly. Underneath, she wore her plaid midi skirt we’ve seen twice before. For her Christmas accessories, she chose a new chocolate brown hat by, her matching suede bag, gloves, & boots. Kate also wore her trinity hoop earrings, and added one last style throwback to her look with the same scarf she wore for Christmas back in 2014!
I thought Kate looked really beautiful this Christmas. Brown is a great color on her, it really brings out her eyes & picks up on the different shades in her hair (I loved that she chose to wear it down again!). As a big fan of repeats, this look bringing together so many was a plus & I can definitely appreciate the full-circle symbolism of rewearing the same coat from her first engagement this year.
With that said, I did feel like the multiple patterns at play in this look kind of threw me off. Between the dueling plaids of the coat & skirt, watercolor texture of the scarf, and bold shapes of the floral elements on the hat, there was a lot of depth & texture here. This look was so nearly just right for me, but somewhere something felt just a little off. I think I might have been in favor of swapping one of the pieces out for a solid color, perhaps the skirt or coat - I felt like Kate’s dark brown Alexander McQueen coat could have been a good alternative here. However, I highly applaud her and anyone who tries pattern mixing, personally I find it so difficult that I don’t even try at all! I always love seeing her get creative with the pieces in her wardrobe & this year’s look was a perfect example of that. 🎄
This year, Kate once again opted for a repeat, choosing the green double breasted midi coat she previously wore twice in 2020. She topped it with the faux fur collar we saw on the second of those occasions. Underneath, the princess wore a new plaid & crystal embellished midi skirt by, as well as her black suede heeled boots by. To finish off her look, she brought back the gorgeous diamond drop earrings by she debuted at a movie premiere in 2022.
I was so happy to see this look on Kate! This coat was somehow not on my radar as a potential repeat, but I thought it was a perfect choice for this event. It feels like quite a while since we’ve seen it (even though it sometimes seems like 2020 was 5 seconds ago instead of 5 years). It’s such a pretty shade of green, and the little details including the bejeweled buttons, angled pockets, & peeps of satin lining make it so elegant. I did prefer the coat without the faux fur collar as seen on its first outing, but this accessory was perfect for a wintry Christmas setting.
I was also surprised & pleased to see these earrings again! These are some real stunners & I was wondering when and in what setting we might see them pop up again. It was fun to see Kate style them so differently than on the first wear, though they were a great fit both times. I loved how they picked up on the fun sparkly detail of the beautiful skirt as well. Overall, for me this ranks near the top of her Christmas concert looks! What did you think?! 🎶

For this event Kate brought out a showstopper look, debuting a custom designed, sparkling purplish-blue gown by with cape sleeves & an asymmetrical neckline. She paired it with the Ruby Circlet Tiara, marking her first time wearing this historic piece. Kate also brought back the diamond chandelier style earrings originally loaned to her by the late Queen. Finishing off her look were her crystal heels & black satin clutch.
Wow - this look on Kate was amazing. When I first saw the photos, I thought they were AI generated, & I know I was not the only person to feel that way! It is always so exciting to see her in a new tiara, and this one is a true showstopper. It has a storied history & has gone by many names, dating all the way back to 1853 when it was set with opals & worn by Queen Victoria. Throughout the twentieth century, it was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and was worn just once by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2005 (highly recommend for much more information on this piece!).
While a red dress may have been the obvious option to match this tiara, I loved Kate’s choice to go with a contrasting color. The Jenny Packham dress was a stunner, recalling style elements of several others we’ve seen in the past. If there was ever any doubt about the versatility of rubies, one need only look to Queen Mary of Denmark, who primarily wore a ruby tiara during her time as Crown Princess. I loved how she matched it with gowns of different colors over the years, including several notable blue ones! I absolutely loved this combination on Kate as well, it made for a gorgeous wintry fairytale princess inspired look. ❄️

For this event, Kate wore a near-exact repeat of her look from Christmas Day 2023, including her blue midi coat by Sarah Burton for & navy hat. She also rewore her custom blue suede boots with matching clutch & gloves.For jewelry, she once again opted for the sapphire & diamond drop earrings that belonged to Diana, paired with Queen Alexandra’s Three Feather Brooch. Once the events moved indoors, Kate added her five-strand pearl necklace by, and we were able to get a better look at her new navy long-sleeve dress.
I was so happy to see the return of this coat! I am a big fan of this style, in both the blue & green colors that Kate owns. The side closure reminds me a bit of a wrap dress, & I love the sharpness of the shoulders. I thought the first wear was one of Kate’s best Christmas looks of recent years, so it was a great choice to bring back. The standout accessory to me was the boots - they are sooo luxe and I’d love to see them a bit more frequently!
Kate’s choice of blue seemed to surprise people a little, as it was speculated she’d go with red or yellow as a nod to the colors of the German flag. Personally, I liked that the blue was a little unexpected - I think “flag dressing” has its place & can be done well (see: the 2024 Qatar visit) but it can be predictable. I will always appreciate opting for a local designer above all, like Kate did during this year’s visit from France, but a beloved repeat is a close second! 🇩🇪
