A fully refurbished 1970s home where we chose not to get rid of the monopitch roofs, but to lean into them instead — opening up the family kitchen, living and dining space and letting the tall mono-sloped ceiling define the room.
From the first sketch, the kitchen and material choices were part of the architectural conversation.
Not something passed on later.
We work closely with our clients on how they cook, gather and live, and that thinking shapes the layout of the house. Getting involved in material choices and interior design/ architecture is one of the parts of our work we value most — and one not every architect chooses to stay involved in.
This kitchen came together through that process, in collaboration with brilliant craftspeople and clients who cared deeply about getting it right.
Everything else followed.

If I’ve been a little less active on Instagram lately, it’s because most spare hours this year have gone into our own self-build (Tirzah Retreat House)- being on site, making decisions, and living the same process our clients do.
It’s a reminder to us of just how all-consuming building your home can be, and why clarity, calm thinking and considered design really matter when you’re in it.
From experience, I know this is the point where things usually begin to ease slightly. When they do, I’ll share more — both new projects taking shape and glimpses of our own build along the way.

Extra tall windows slide into the wall, and when the corner is fully open, it’s truly ‘wow’. Looks easy huh? ( trust me - it really wasn’t). #worththeeffort

Attention to detail you have all heard said before is key to success. To achieve a detail or junction that looks refined or simple, a lot of work, thought, discussions & technical detailing on paper & computer go on behind the scenes.

Sometimes architects find it hard to communicate what their skills are and what takes time… firstly the design always takes a lot of time and many iterations or versions. But so too do the details.

A beautiful 3d image has value. But we believe knowing & having the technical and visual skill to bring the details and often complicated junctions of different materials together seamlessly is of greater value to the end product- your beautiful home.
