PS I have a sketch book that is simply titled 'Towers'. It goes all the way back to my undergraduate architecture thesis which was for a tower in the business district of New Orleans (a project that made it to the cover of the local newspaper, The Times Picayune). I was obsessed with towers. And have always explored ways to build them. The New Orleans tower was fairly buildable. But along the way, I've explored ideas which require not just new ways of occupying space but ways of building that are yet to exist. This is one of many explorations. Other ones are imminently buildable.

He had chosen the location for its seven foothills. Each night, the play would be staged on a different hill, so that by the seventh day, all seven hills were filled with activities. Performers included global professionals, and people from a wide cross-section of society, from those with higher education to others who didn’t know that man had been to the moon.
To hear him explain the 7-fold structure of the play, and it’s epic tales and sketch a diagram of it for me, teasing its architecture…I could pinch myself. What a beautiful sketch! Architectural, concise and conceptual. And then to give me a tour of the remarkable Watermill Center with its art and artifacts collected over a lifetime of traveling around the world. What a generous spirit. What a unique visionary.
