Day 5 of 5. And thats a wrap on a full training/coaching session Ridge and Better!
We started with trot squares and precision. We worked through softness, lead departures, lateral movement, the gas pedal, mixed signals, and what it means to stop babysitting your horse and trust them to do their job.
Huge shoutout to Ridge for being willing to share this content with you all. Not everyone would let their training sessions, mistakes and all, be shared with the whole internet so that others might have the opportunity to learn alongside him. That's the kind of attitude that makes him such a valued member of the team.
What resonated with you the most this week? Drop it in the comments. I'd love to know what landed.

Day 4 of 5. Yesterday we uncovered a right leg lateral issue that was causing lead departure problems. Today we're going deeper.
When a horse pops its head up on a lead departure it's almost never just about the departure. Today we're diagnosing what's actually going on — the gas pedal, the signals, and why turning them loose sometimes fixes everything that handling them couldn't.
Don't miss tomorrow's final video — we're wrapping up the whole session and tying everything together.

Day 3 of 5. Lead departures, lateral movement, and a lesson that started one place and ended somewhere completely different.
That's training. You come in with a plan and the horse shows you what they actually need. Better told us real quick that his right leg lateral wasn't where it needed to be, and we spent the rest of the session fixing it.
One lead departure revealed everything. 〽
And remember that Tip of the Week about even reins? A few people wondered why that tip was even necessary at a serious level of riding. Watch this video. Ridge is an experienced horseman completely focused on his body position, his horse's body, his hands, his feet, his timing - and those reins still crept uneven more times than either of us would like to admit. 😂 It's not about skill level. It's about how much your brain is juggling at once. That's exactly why the basics never stop mattering. 💯

Day 2 of 5. Ridge and Better - getting soft in the face.
Slow hands. Soft release. Use your feet. That's the formula, and there's no shortcut to it. Just reps. Over and over until that horse figures out that giving to the bridle is the path of least resistance.
This one is packed with the kind of detail that makes a real difference in the pen. 〽

Something special is dropping next week and I'm kicking it off with a giveaway!

I filmed a full coaching and training session with my assistant trainer Ridge and this young horse, Better, and it was so packed with content I had to break it into 5 separate videos posting Monday - Friday.
We cover everything from collection work, softness in the face, lead departures, lateral movement, pattern precision, and more. The kind of detailed coaching I usually reserve for Gold Medal Formula subscribers.

But before we get there - can you guess Better's sire? I'll give you a few hints - Better is 2 years old and was born and raised right here at my ranch. I also rode his sire and had a lot of success with him.

Drop your guess in the comments. First person to get it right wins a FREE 3 month subscription to the Gold Medal Formula at

Stay tuned! First video drops Monday!

The mystery of Gracie the missing giraffe may finally be solved…

After an extensive search across Texas, eyewitnesses report she was last seen in a horse barn helping none other than Blue Thunder raid the horse cookie jar. 🍪🦒🐴

Sources close to the investigation say Blue struck a deal.

In exchange for her assistance, he promised Gracie an exclusive meet-and-greet with, where the three of them reportedly spent the afternoon brainstorming her social media strategy. Rumor has it they’re planning a complete rebrand featuring behind-the-scenes barn content, “Snack Reviews with Gracie,” and a new series called Tall Tales with Blue. 📱😂

Authorities have decided not to press charges after learning the stolen cookies were thoroughly enjoyed and everyone agreed the collaboration had “excellent engagement potential.”

If you happen to spot Gracie around a feed room… check the cookie jar first. Blue is a mastermind. 🤷🏼‍♀️🍪
