This means your skin is at greatest risk during summer months and especially during midday hours—even on cooler days. This is also true on cloudy day, when UV rays still can harm the skin. To protect yourself, seek shade, wear wide-brimmed hats and protective clothing, and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen regularly.
A little awareness goes a long way in reducing sun damage and lowering skin cancer risk. Stay safe and enjoy the summer.

This is a powerful, aggressive procedure that delivers meaningful results—but it requires significant expertise. Treatment should always be performed by a highly-trained, experienced expert.

In rare cases, improperly sourced or poorly administered injections have led to symptoms consistent with botulism - something that should never occur with legitimate care. When performed correctly, botulinum toxin treatments are extremely safe with a long track record of minimal serious side effects.
The key takeaway is simple: carefully vet both your provider and the clinic. Choose experienced, reputable medical professionals—because in aesthetics, safety depends on who is holding the syringe.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO₂) & White Ink:
These pigments are highly reflective and don’t absorb laser energy well. When exposed to laser light—especially pigment lasers—they can oxidize and darken, turning gray or black. This is called paradoxical darkening. The treated area may end up looking worse, and in some cases, the darkening can be permanent.
Flesh-Colored Inks:
These often contain TiO₂ or iron oxides. Iron oxide can oxidize into ferric oxide (a rust-like color) when treated with a laser, leading to a reddish or darkened appearance. Because these pigments are designed to match skin tone, any darkening is especially visible.
This is a good reason to wash an area thoroughly to remove makeup and sunscreen prior to treatment. It is also a good example of why it is imperative to choose a well-trained, experienced laser surgeon for your treatments.
