Support creates trust.
Trust allows depth

This work is not about copying a technique as it was taught it’s about embodying the movement. A technique is the shape of a movement. Embodiment is understanding what the movement is doing to the body and nervous system. When someone follows technique alone, they focus on where to place the hands, where to step, and how far to take the stretch. The movement may look correct, but it’s often driven by effort and repetition. If the client braces, holds their breath, or grabs the table, the practitioner continues anyway because they’re following instructions, not feedback. Embodiment is different. When you fully understand a movement, you feel the weight transfer, the leverage, the client’s tone, and the moment the nervous system shifts. You adjust your stance, your timing, and your depth in real time. You don’t pull you receive. You don’t force range you allow it to emerge.

Mastery isn’t about more techniques.
It’s about deeper understanding support, timing, and response and knowing when to let the movement teach you how far to go

If you’ve been in one of my workshops, you know I say it all the time: “Less is more.”
And most people struggle with that not because they can’t, but because they feel like they have to do something. Always move, always add, always impress. That’s what separates levels of work.
Advanced work lives in the quiet, in the stillness. That’s where we feel more, notice more, and understand deeper. Big flashy movements? Sure, they look good, and they have their time and place, but most of the time people are just chasing a reaction from the client. You don’t have to chase.
Slow down. Do less. Listen. The body will tell you what it needs if you pay attention. That’s where the real work happens.
And here’s why this matters: it keeps you in the game for years. It builds results that last. It prevents burnout. I’ve worked like this for years with the same clients, consistent work, real results and that’s why I share it with you. What worked for me will work for you, if you’re ready to truly listen.

Big, flashy movements can look impressive, but they don’t always reflect the depth of skill involved. All of these movements require deep listening and intuition, but one demands it more than the others; the rest are easier than they appear.

Advanced work isn’t always in the size of the movement, it’s in the details: timing, rhythm, trust, intuition, intention, and precision.

Chasing what looks bigger or more impressive won’t get results. The nervous system doesn’t respond to excess; it responds to clarity. Real mastery happens in subtle movements, where restraint creates power.

Knowing how little is actually needed is everything.
Next post, I’ll explain why this matters most.

Letting the island do the healing.
Sometimes, we just need to pull back.
We don’t always have to be on, always moving, always doing. It’s okay to stop. To breathe. To just be.
Listen to your body. Feel what it needs. It might be asking for stillness, for quiet, for space. And that’s enough. You don’t have to fix anything.
When we allow ourselves to pause, to soften, to simply exist, we find a kind of peace that rushing can’t give.
The island helps. The body remembers. And in that stillness, we make room for what we’re truly ready to receive.

If I had to choose the greatest advantage of taking my workshops, it would without a doubt be the ability to adapt. The idea is simple: there are many ways to move, and the key is exploring the variations and positions that work best for your body.
Sessions won’t always go exactly as planned bodies differ, ranges of motion vary, and some days feel more limited than others. This is where having options becomes so valuable.

What does that mean?
It means understanding that one movement can have multiple versions. Offering three adaptations of the same exercise isn’t about making things more complicated it’s about ensuring the movement still works for you and remains effective, no matter where your body is that day.

1. Client 1: More flexible with a smaller frame, so this variation is the simplest and easiest to perform.
2. Client 2: Still flexible but with a larger build. I can move their arm, but to avoid overworking myself, I incorporate other tools, like using my leg for support.
3. Client 3: Limited range of motion and cannot bring the arm behind the body, so I modify the movement to mimic the intention in a safe and healthy way.
One question I hear all the time: How do you choose between the two?

Finding Your Style: MATCHA METHOD Platform Flow or Foundational Flow

Platform Flow (table): Offers a familiar, accessible setup for clients who prefer a traditional treatment environment or may have difficulty getting on and off the floor. It allows for more targeted, controlled pressure and is ideal for focused work on specific areas and varying ranges of motion.

Foundational Flow (ground): Rooted in traditional practice, it gives the therapist full freedom of movement and the ability to use body weight, deep compression, and large, flowing stretches. This creates a more dynamic, grounding, and whole-body experience.

In the end, Platform Flow prioritizes accessibility and focused pressure, while Foundational Flow emphasizes tradition, movement, and full-body engagement. Both approaches are effective the choice depends on the client’s needs, comfort, and the style of experience they’re looking for.

Peak performance (especially in an aging body) takes more than hard training—it takes recovery that actually changes how your body moves. That’s why bodywork has become a non-negotiable part of my physical and mental resilience.

Most people think bodywork is just for post-training recovery, but the real magic is in how it rewires movement. Better mobility = better training quality, and better training quality shapes the physique.

I’ve tried countless forms of treatment over the years, but Matcha Method is on a different level. Matt’s approach targets the connective tissue that influences tension, alignment, and joint mechanics. When fascia moves better, everything moves better—muscles fire more efficiently, joints load correctly, and the nervous system finally shifts to a relaxed state. When restored, your whole body shifts—you move with ease, you breathe deeper, and your physique follows.

For me, the results have been undeniable: better movement, better performance, and a body that feels more alive and capable with each session.

If you’re serious about longevity, recovery, or simply feeling at home in your body… this work is worth it!

Working with clients who have limited range of motion can get a little tricky, and when trying to avoid certain motions and disturbances in the joints, we tend to avoid certain movements.

When I apply the stick as a tool I am giving the client the ability to not only get into the position or stretch, but to be confident in that movement. The stick allows me to have control and a good understanding of the client’s range; it lets me know how much pressure and allows me to focus more on one side without having to worry about the other when required. For this particular client who is a #bodybuilder, posing is just as crucial as the training is, so putting a lot attention to rotational movements is key.

Ease the mind and the body will follow.

Easier said than done, and in order for this to happen there needs to be a lot of trust in the practitioner from the client. I stress this now more than ever. Why? Because I’ve noticed a lot of issues in the industry that need to change, starting with CLIENT SPACE.

When attempting to replicate a video’s style, problems often arise. I have always advised against copying my techniques unless provided specific instructions on proper execution. Attempting to replicate someone’s style without the proper education manifests in poorly executed movements during sessions, because what you can’t always appreciate from a quick video clip is the subtle intricacies in place to ensure a client’s space is being respected.

Take this video as an example; though it may seem invasive, my knees and chest play crucial roles in protecting essential areas. This is precisely why I teach my method — to ensure understanding and respect for the healing arts.

Fear is experienced in your mind, but it triggers a strong physical reaction throughout your body. Once you encounter fear, your amygdala (small organ in the middle of your brain) goes to work. It alerts your nervous system, which sets your body’s fear response into gear. When the fear response kicks in, the most effective way to calm down is slow breathing. Remember that Breath is the core of everything 🪬
