I’ve made a small, heartfelt series of fabric hangings.
Just 30 pieces in total, in 3 different fabric variations.
Each one is created entirely by hand, from the very first carve to the final stitch. Because of this, every piece turns out a little different. With its own textures, tiny imperfections, and character. That’s what makes each of them truly one of a kind, and this series won’t be repeated.
In my next post (tomorrow), I’ll share more of the process of creation. All the steps and moments that live inside each piece.

That's how long the first collaboration of and took.
Alexey and Marina's friendship has a long story of support and trust. Alexey was getting his tattoos only from Marina all 13 years long - from the very beginning of her career.
Alexey’s passion for the history of tattooing, exploration of various traditional styles and specifically Daria’s ornamental works combined with absolute trust in his master made him easily decide to dive into a new collaboration.
The idea of the project was ambitious - the unity of everything in this world: life and death, feminine and masculine, all the nature’s elements. We are all an integral part of a single whole.
While combining different styles and reconsidering the traditional Japanese tattoo art, we still tried to stick to the basic canons. We chose one type of flower and used only this. It’s the chrysanthemum and it’s symbolize greatness, noble and fearlessness.
Elements are placed by levels: water in the lower parts and wind above.
Samurai’s clothes are decorated with a wave pattern called Seigaiha. And geisha kimono has a cloud pattern. It also says about harmony of the elements in nature.
Daria's challenge was to combine all this together into a complete ornamental composition. She does her part of work by freehand, and the biggest thing was to repeat the same on the second leg.
The building up of the lines took almost as much time as the tattooing process itself.
The project was really challenging and level up for both of us. This kind of collaborative work makes you think and create in a very different way – always keeping in mind that your part must have a color and tone contrast harmony with the work of your colleague artist, and considering all the connections between different parts. And it is all about new creative solutions and more responsibility than working on your own.
Tattooing of two legs took us:
