Prism, an experimental work-in-progress by Damien Jalet and Kohei Nawa, premieres tomorrow in Seoul at GS Arts Center.
Set within a transparent structure covered in prism sheets, the work explores how bodies, light, and perception continually transform one another. Through reflections and refractions, the dancers’ bodies are fragmented and multiplied into layered, shifting images.
明日より、韓国・ソウルにて、ダミアン・ジャレとの実験的なパフォーマンス《Prism》を公演いたします。
ダンサーの身体はプリズムボックスの偏光と反射を通じて、幾重にも重なり合ったイメージへと変換されます。
それはまるで、異なる次元の迷宮をさまよっているかのようです。

2025年5月に初めてメッセージを送ってから親しくなり、プロジェクトを立ち上げ、音楽を作り、ソウルで展覧会も開催することができました。
抜群のセンスがあり、おもしろく、何より「心」があった彼とわずか半年あまりという短い間でしたが知り合えて、一緒に考えて活動をともにできたことをとても誇りに思います。偶然にも同じ中学校の先輩後輩でしたが、年齢に関係なく友人であり、志しを同じくするアーティストに出会えて、頼もしく嬉しかったです。
最後に一緒に演奏したのは2025年12月。彼と彼の仲間たちが誘ってくれた即興ライブで、和蝋燭を1本だけ灯して演奏し続けるというものでした。和蝋燭が消えるその一瞬だけ稲妻のような光が放たれたことを今思い出しています。
共同の活動はまだ1周目で、これから少しずつ大きく円を何度も描きながら進んでいくのだろうと思っていました。
篠田ミルが起こしてくれた推進力をうけ、彼の志しや人柄、その心を時々自分に宿して、この世界を考え、歩んでいこうと思います。

京都大学教育学部卒業。「静けさの中の強さ」を軸に、ピアノを中心とした室内楽やフィールドレコーディング、電子音を用いた音響作品を制作。アーティストグループ「ダムタイプ」への参加をはじめ、野田秀樹、名和晃平、森山未來らの舞台作品、映画『国宝』『流浪の月』、羽生結弦『Prequel』、NHK『日曜美術館』（坂本美雨と共作）など多岐にわたり音楽を手がける。第49回日本アカデミー賞最優秀音楽賞・主題歌賞W受賞など受賞歴多数。

Marihiko Hara is the Kyoto-based composer and sound artist currently in the limelight for his soundtrack work on the hit film Kokuho, which took Japan by storm in 2025. Largely self-taught, Hara’s work explores the subtle boundaries between sound, silence, memory and space. In addition to film, his projects also span dance, theatre and installation, the through line being his deft touch in evoking the passage of time with compositions that blend field recordings, acoustic instruments and electronics.
A highly sought-after collaborator, Hara has collaborated with the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Damien Jalet, Kohei Nawa, Min Tanaka, NODA MAP and the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company. He is also a member of the leading Japanese artist collective Dumb Type. Hara will be presenting his quiet, immersive soundscapes for us at Future Frequencies Festival in a little over a fortnight.

『わたしの知らない子どもたち』の音楽を書き始めて、2年以上が経ちます。これほど長くひとつの映画音楽を書き続けたことはありません。
西川美和監督より映画の構想を伺ってすぐに、あるモチーフを思いつきました。まだ脚本も届いていない頃に書いたそのモチーフが、この映画のメインテーマになりました。監督の強い思いに心を動かされたのだと思います。
その後、主人公・琴子の心の奥底にあるものはどういうものだろうかと考えながら、作曲を進めていきましたが、非常に難しく、険しく長い道のりでした。最終的には、琴子のあの目に導かれて、今まで書いたことのない音楽ができたと思っています。
この映画で描かれている子どもたちと同じような経験をする子どもたちがこの先いないように。今そういう状況にいる世界中の子どもたちが守られ、やりたいことに挑戦できる自由が与えられますように。
この映画が多くの人たちのもとへ届くことを願っています。

5歳の息子は、月に行くなら宇宙船に《国宝》の音楽を全部持ち込む、と言ってくれています。
壇上のスピーチでも言いましたが、これからも我々が映画作りに没頭できて、若い人たち、子どもたちがいい映画に触れられ、やりたいことに挑戦できる爆弾の降ってこない空がずっと続くことを心から願っています。
