This project was guided by a simple conviction: there are no shortcuts in the crafts of the hand.
Time, patience, and collective effort are the true materials of our work.
As expressed by Axelle, co-artisitic director and president of the Maison:
“Choosing to restore a historic building rather than settling into a more convenient or economical site is not about nostalgia. It is a deliberate choice — for the long term, for intention, for durability, and for beauty.”
This additional workshop strengthens the Maison’s production capacity while remaining strictly artisanal.
Here, more than 90 hand-painted décors, 68 original colours, and over 120 porcelain forms continue to be made to order, with no compromise on gesture or precision.
“We believe in the value of time, and in coherence between what we do and who we are.
We are a family-run house. We are custodians.”
This is not a showcase.
It is a working place — designed for transmission, training, and continuity, for those whose craft is to make, often away from the spotlight, always with rigor.
“These crafts of the hand carry both humility and nobility, in service of the common good.
Alone, we go faster. Together, we go further.”
Building K, first constructed in 1825, has returned to life in 2025 —
through the conviction of a Maison,
the skill of many artisans,
and the trust of a territory.

Plates, cups and service pieces are displayed as working references, reflecting more than 90 hand-painted décors, 68 original colours and over 120 porcelain forms, all made to order.
This wall is not a display but a tool. It allows painters, designers and clients to read proportions, colour combinations and brushwork at scale, and to situate new projects within the Maison’s existing collections.
Integrated directly into the workshop, it anchors daily production in continuity — linking heritage patterns to ongoing creation, and supporting training, transmission and long-term development.

Guests were invited to move through the new production space and observe the Maison’s artisans at work: painters demonstrating freehand decoration, discussions around forms, colors, and techniques, and the quiet precision of gestures that define haute porcelain.
This moment was deliberately simple. Just the reality of a working atelier, inside a 200-year-old building, brought back to life after six years of rehabilitation.
This is the purpose of the project led by Axelle Renié and the Maison Marie Daâge team: to anchor a living craft in a historic place, and to ensure that hand-painted porcelain remains a practiced, shared, and transmitted savoir-faire — today, and for the generations to come.

Craftsmen, site managers, engineers, technical partners, public representatives and painters each added their name. Together, these signatures document six years of work — from structural repairs and restoration to the final adjustments required to bring the building back into use.
The plate features an illustration of Building K and the dates 1825–2025, marking both the original construction of the former cavalry stables and their rehabilitation two centuries later.
The plate will be permanently installed inside the workshop, as a visible record of the collective effort behind the project and of the many hands involved in its completion.
Maison Marie Daâge inaugurated its new production workshop in Vendôme on December 17, 2025, following six years of rehabilitation of a 200-year-old stable, now dedicated to artisanal porcelain production.

The moment brought together Marie, founder of the Maison, Axelle and Mathieu, who lead the company today, as well as local and regional representatives whose continued support made the project possible: Laurent Brillard, Mayor of Vendôme and President of the Territoires Vendômois agglomeration; Philippe Gouet, President of the Département of Loir-et-Cher; Vincent Le Duff, Sous-Préfet of the arrondissement of Vendôme; and Karine Gloanec Maurin, Regional Councillor for Centre-Val de Loire, Delegate for Europe, European Cooperation and Tourism.
Beyond the formal gesture, the inauguration was above all a collective recognition. The rehabilitation of Building K mobilised craftsmen, companions, engineers, site managers and technical teams across many disciplines, over a six-year period marked by complex technical choices, changing site conditions and a constant attention to the integrity of the historic structure.
The ceremony also brought together the porcelain painters of Maison Marie Daâge. Their presence carried particular meaning: the gesture of decoration on porcelain existed long before the walls were restored, and it is this know-how that gave the project its purpose. Today, these painters make the building a working atelier, designed around precision, light, comfort and time.
Public officials, artisans, partners and friends of the Maison gathered for this moment, reflecting a shared conviction: that heritage can remain alive when it is inhabited by work, transmission and collective responsibility.

The restored façade of Building K, now home to the additional Maison Marie Daâge production workshop in Vendôme. Originally built in 1825 as cavalry stables, the building has been carefully rehabilitated over six years, through a collective effort led by Axelle Renié, in collaboration with artisans, engineers and heritage specialists.
Image 2 — Before.
The same building, before work began. Unused for more than 30 years, it required a complete and careful intervention — not to modernise it, but to understand how it was built and how it could last.
Image 3 — The people.
A tribute to the craftsmen, workers, engineers and technicians who carried out this transformation. From the early diagnostic conducted with Maisons Paysannes de France, to the final stages of the chantier, the project relied on shared expertise, traditional materials and a precise reading of the historic structure.
Over six years, the rehabilitation brought together multiple trades — stonework, carpentry, roofing, lime-based insulation, joinery, heating and ventilation — coordinated with one objective: adapting a 19th-century building to contemporary production standards while respecting its integrity.
Building K was constructed in 1825, as part of a vast cavalry complex designed to accommodate 700 soldiers and 600 horses. Military occupation of the site began earlier, in 1802, when troops took over the former Abbey of the Trinity following the departure of the monks after the French Revolution.
In 1886, the site officially became known as Quartier Rochambeau. As the complex expanded in the mid-19th century, the organisation of the stables evolved: Building K, the oldest of the ensemble, was partially reconfigured to align circulation between the main courtyard and the newly created stable yard.
The Quartier Rochambeau is now recognised as a protected heritage site. Its central riding school was listed as a historic monument in 2002, followed by additional protections in 2020, reflecting the architectural and historical significance of the ensemble.

Speaking at the inauguration, Axelle Renié reflected on the nature of this project — six years in the making — and on a conviction shared with the artisans present: in crafts, work and patience are the true raw materials. There are no shortcuts.
Choosing to establish a contemporary production site inside a 19th-century building, unused for more than 30 years, was neither the easiest nor the most economical option. It was a deliberate one. Not out of nostalgia, but out of respect for the intelligence of the past — for buildings conceived to last, and for métiers built on time, skill and intention.
Founded 35 years ago, Maison Marie Daâge was created to defend a rare French savoir-faire: freehand painting on porcelain. Over decades, this craft has evolved alongside the same painters, workshops and manufactures. The Vendôme atelier represents a new stage, built on that foundation.
Axelle also paid tribute to those who made the project possible — the workers, companions, artisans and technicians whose work is often invisible, yet essential. A chantier of this scale is a collective work, carried by humility, precision and resilience.
