Wir sind alle enttäuscht, da wir große Ziele hatten und diese auch immer noch haben. Ich finde es nicht verwerflich sich hohe Ziele zu stecken und das auch offen zu kommunizieren. Warum auch nicht?
In den letzten Jahren hat sich das Deutsche Eishockey enorm verbessert. Wir haben uns immer wieder gesteigert, haben Weltklasse-Spieler in der besten Liga der Welt und in allen anderen Ligen. Die Erwartungshaltung war hoch. In den Medien, bei den Fans und natürlich bei uns Spielern selbst. Wir wissen das wir uns nicht mehr verstecken müssen, aber bei diesem Turnier hat es einfach nicht geklappt, unseren Ansprüchen gerecht zu werden.
Sowas kann passieren. Nicht nur bei uns, sondern auch in jedem anderen Beruf. Aber es macht mich sehr traurig, wenn das Team verbal gedemütigt wird. In den sozialen Medien wurde die Mannschaft und sogar einzelne Spieler mit Worten angegriffen, die einfach unter die Gürtellinie gehen. Das hat kein Mensch verdient. Kritik ja, aber bitte konstruktiv und respektvoll.
Ich verstehe jeden, der sauer ist, wir sind es auch. Aber man kann seine Enttäuschung auch fair ausdrücken. Der respektvolle Umgang zeichnet unseren Sport doch aus!
Am Ende kommt es doch nur darauf an, dass wir ein Land sind, das zusammen stehen muss - und das auch in schwierigen Zeiten. Also lasst das Geschehene aufarbeiten, die richtigen Schlüsse daraus ziehen und positiv in die Zukunft schauen.
Es sind Erinnerungen fürs Leben und ich bin stolz das ich die Chance bekommen habe, bei den olympischen Spielen einlaufen zu dürfen.

Wir - und auch ich persönlich - lassen uns von diesem Spiel auf jeden Fall nicht unterkriegen! Das Turnier ist noch lang und die Jungs sind eine super Truppe. Ob und wie ich mitwirken kann, das wird sich wohl alles sehr kurzfristig entscheiden. Ich werde alles dafür tun, der Mannschaft auf dem Eis helfen zu können.
Die Situation ist einfach verdammt unglücklich gelaufen. Aber so ist Eishockey manchmal. Man passt einen Bruchteil einer Sekunde nicht auf - und da ist es passiert. Besonders gefreut habe ich mich, dass sich mein Gegner nach dem Spiel gemeldet hat und mir eine gute Besserung gewünscht hat. Solch faire Gesten sind es, die unseren Sport ausmachen.
