When I paint, I don’t follow a plan.
I let the layers unfold, just as a landscape does:
unhurried, without a fixed intention.
As I viewed this work from different angles,
a figure began to emerge, born from gesture and chance.
It carries the same stillness I feel in nature—
an innocent gaze, with fears lingering nearby,
yet none of that seems to matter,
because everything dissolves the moment you allow yourself
to sink into the natural world.
My work feels completely different when you see in person. Because I build in layers and use materials that create reflections, it’s impossible to capture the full images in digital images. If you‘re able to come to see it up close, you’ll experience it much better.

Nature gaze
When I paint a picture, I don’t start from a defined idea. I let myself be guided by the act of painting itself. I work through successive layers that intertwine and generate a story I don’t plan but rather discover. Only when the work is finished do I begin to listen to what it wants to tell me.
I have titled this piece Nature Gaze. It was born from a feeling I experience when I contemplate a landscape: there comes a moment when I stop feeling like a simple observer. Something dissolves. I feel that my body, my gaze, and nature form the same fabric, as if the separation between “myself” and “the natural world” no longer existed. That experience of unity, of belonging, is what inspires the work.
In this sense, Nature Gaze is not just a landscape. It is also a gentle act of resistance: a reminder that looking at nature can be an act of reconnecting with a part of myself, with an identity that is not separate from the environment. The painting becomes a space where that unity can be felt, inhabited, and made visible.

When I started this painting, I had no intention of what to paint — I simply let everything flow.
Layer after layer and a lot of time with it, when is finished, I began to interpret what emerged from that freedom.
Recently I’ve been reading a lot of poetry by women writers — unfortunately many still unknown to the public. I came across this poem by Remi Graves, and I feel it deeply connects with this piece.
“Green leaves. Wind kissed.
Closed palms. Fresh hope.
Deep river. Free flow.
No signs. Open road.
Wide sky. Grow wings.
Feel light. Dream big.
No frame. New eyes.
From dark. Find light.
Hug air. Laugh loud.
Breathe deep. Dance wild.
Smile wide. Shut eyes.
Hold chest. Close mind.
Ask cloud. Ask wind.
Ask earth. Ask field.
How to live free?
Hold on. Let go.
Give trust. Lend heart.
Fall down. Get up.
Eat fear. Drink hope.”

As I’ve always explained, when I start a painting there’s never a clear plan — nothing is pre-established. I paint from intuition, letting the subconscious lead the way.
Only when the piece is finished can I begin to understand what it’s trying to say.
This time, while looking at the painting, I came across a poem by Rupi Kaur that seemed to speak directly through it:
“this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
fall
root
rise
in order to bloom” ( fragment “The Sun and Her Flowers”. Rupi Kaur).
