今年の夏の展示会のテーマは「Tranqui」。
スペイン語で “大丈夫、ゆっくり、穏やか”を意味するこの言葉は、マキマロの裏庭「Jardin」を象徴しています。
木陰の美しい裏庭で、
きれいな空気を吸いながら、
ゆったりとお散歩するような豊かな時間をご一緒できれば幸いです。

2004年、私たちはスペインからモロッコを抜け、モーリタニアからサハラ砂漠を10日間かけて縦断し、西アフリカのマリとブルキナファソを3ヶ月間旅していました。
マリの泥染めの村”エンデ”を訪れていた時、今のmaquimaloのマークが突然頭に浮かびました。
マークの中には、土・水・木・太陽。
そこにマキマロの文字が重なりました。
その旅は、それまで曖昧だった私たちが、これから進むべき道を授かった旅でした。
あれから22年が過ぎ、今でもすべてのアイテムにその形をスタンプしています。
アフリカでの旅で、家族のためのものづくりをしていこうと決めたので、まず作ったのは、自分たちが履くためのリネンパンツ。
これがマキマロとして初めて作ったアイテムです。
マロが、1日中ミシンを踏みながら作れるのはパンツ2本。
妊婦の私は、植物を採取し、煮出して染める日々を繰り返していました。
22年目のこの定番アイテムは、生地の廃盤によりリニューアルし、“トランキー”という名前のパンツに生まれ変わりました。
構想5年。
マキマロらしく、年齢も体型も時代も性別も超えて、皆さんに着ていただける形です。
よりエレガントに、リラックスした着心地へと進化しました。
展示会では、私たちの裏庭の植物をイメージしたオリジナルのパルファン「Jardin」も2年ぶりに復活します。

今の時期には本当に着心地がいいです
緩やかなカーブの切り替えラインに、ハシゴレースをあしらった、細部まで丁寧に仕立てられた美しいワンピースです。
