๐ŸŒณ Rooted in Nature, Connected by Design ๐ŸŒณ

TRIVENI 2026 was a celebration of the values that bring us together as designers and as a community.

From a refreshing nature walk through the beautiful landscape of Reva Aranya to planting saplings that symbolize growth and responsibility, every moment reminded us of our connection with the environment.

As we celebrated IIID Charter Day, we also celebrated the roots of our professionโ€”the community, collaboration, and shared vision that continue to strengthen the design fraternity.

A evening spent amidst nature, meaningful conversations, and a collective commitment towards a greener future.

Hereโ€™s a glimpse of those special moments. ๐ŸŒฟโœจ

SELF-SUSTAINING FARM HOUSE
DESIGNED BY:
PHOTOGRAPHED BY:
AREA: 1,500 ftยฒ

๐Ÿ‘‰ Nestled on the outskirts of Vadodara, the Self-Sustaining Farm House by Manoj Patel Design Studio is a celebration of sustainable architecture, local craftsmanship, and immersive living. Designed as a retreat from urban life, the project embraces nature through recycled materials, climate-responsive planning, and a deep connection to its rural surroundings.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Built on a 30,000 ftยฒ site, the farmhouse uses reclaimed materials, exposed brickwork, and locally sourced stone to minimise environmental impact while creating a rich architectural identity. Curved brick walls, innovative brick bond patterns, and self-shading facades respond naturally to the region's hot climate, reducing heat gain and enhancing comfort.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The architecture unfolds through a series of interconnected volumes, courtyards, and open pockets that allow daylight, natural ventilation, and landscape to flow seamlessly throughout the home. Sloping roofs, varied heights, and a glazed central pavilion create dynamic spatial experiences while strengthening the relationship between indoors and outdoors.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Handcrafted details, artisanal finishes, reclaimed wood, stone surfaces, and nature-inspired bathrooms transform everyday spaces into sensory experiences. Light, texture, and materiality become central design elements, creating an environment that feels both grounded and restorative.

๐Ÿ“ More than a farmhouse, this project demonstrates how sustainable residential architecture can combine ecological responsibility, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary design to create meaningful spaces rooted in their environment.

105 sq.mt house by MANOJ PATEL DESIGN STUDIO

Located on the outskirts of Vadodara, Gujarat, India, the Brick Weave House offers a quiet retreat away from the cityโ€™s fast-paced environment. Positioned on a corner plot of 1140 sq.ft., the site is bordered by a neighboring residence on one side while opening towards an internal road on the other, creating opportunities for both privacy and openness. Given the compact footprint, the design strategically expands vertically, allowing the home to comfortably accommodate the needs of two generations living together.

The clients envisioned a residence that balances togetherness with individual privacy. Responding to this, the design evolves as a series of interconnected architectural and spatial experiences, where varying volumes and transitional passages create a dynamic flow throughout the home. The planning encourages interaction while simultaneously carving out intimate private zones for each family member.

Climate responsiveness plays a significant role in shaping the architecture, particularly through the treatment of the faรงade. The built form rises linearly as a composition of clustered masses, articulated through double-height interlocking volumes that introduce light, openness, and visual depth into the interiors. A carefully crafted arched element marks key intersections within the structure, adding character and a sculptural identity to the overall form.

Between the city's chaos and rural calm a sustainable farmhouse retreat on the outskirts of Vadodara, designed by, invites you to exhale. Set within a 30,000 sq. ft. site surrounded by lush open plots, this 1,500 sq. ft. built form is a quiet celebration of craft, material, and ecological sensitivity.

Sustainability is not a feature here it is the foundation. Ground beams formed within the cavities of brick walls, RCC slurry poured to bind and strengthen, curved brick walls shaped by skilled hands on site every construction decision becomes an expressive architectural language of efficiency and craft.

Locally sourced stone, recycled materials, and different brick bond joineries work as self-shading structures in Vadodara's hot and dry climate.

The built form is fragmented into distinct volumes of varying heights, allowing landscape, light, and air to flow freely between spaces. At the heart of the composition, a glazed central volume draws natural light deep into the interiors, while sloping roof profiles add a dynamic silhouette against the sky. A central open pocket transforms into a playful courtyard a green sanctuary for families and children alike.

Inside, patterned flooring, handcrafted details, and artisanal finishes layer cultural expression and warmth throughout. The bathrooms unfold as resort-inspired sanctuaries โ€” stone joiners, pebbled floors, reclaimed wood, and wall art inspired by aquatic and natural elements creating an immersive, sensory retreat where architecture and nature dissolve into one.

125 sq.mt. house by MANOJ PATEL DESIGN STUDIO

Spanning 125 sq. m., this residence in Vadodara stands out for its organically sculpted faรงade and expressive form. The clients envisioned a home that reflects their bond, one that fosters internal connectivity while unfolding as a cohesive architectural art form. Conceived as a three-storey structure, the design weaves intricate brick patterns, interpreting curvilinear geometry with a fluid, sculptural approach.

The ground level is oriented around shared living, featuring a triple-height living room, a kitchen with dining, and a multipurpose space. Private areas are located on the first floor, while the second floor opens up to a serene terrace accompanied by two additional bedrooms.

Celebrating brick as a central architectural element, the house emphasizes sustainability and craftsmanship. Skilled labor brings character to the structure through carefully executed brickwork. The layered, textured surfaces create a striking visual interplay, capturing shifting sunlight throughout the day and transforming the faรงade into a dynamic canvas. Seamless joinery further refines the articulation of brick at key junctions, enhancing the buildingโ€™s overall mass and detailing.
