Using atmospheric data collected during the first week of June from seven Palestinian cities: Gaza, Nablus, Tulkarm, Jericho, Jenin, Ramallah and Hebron, I translated temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, cloud cover, wind speed, wind gusts, and UV levels into sound.
In this composition, weather conditions become violins, flutes, harps, and orchestral textures, creating a symphonic experience of the atmosphere. Performed live, the piece transforms a week of atmospheric activity into an orchestral score, inviting listeners to hear Palestine through its weather.
Sometimes I am surprised by the beautiful melodies that emerge simply by letting weather variations determine the sequence of notes. It feels as if the weather is singing. In this piece, the weather is the composer and I am only the interpreter.

「Weather Music: Strings for Palestine」 は、気象データのみを音楽へと変換して制作されたライブ・サウンドパフォーマンスです。
私は6月第1週に収集されたパレスチナの7つの都市、ガザ、ナブルス、トゥルカルム、エリコ、ジェニン、ラマッラー、ヘブロンの気象データを使用し、気温、湿度、気圧、雲量、風速、最大瞬間風速、UV指数を音へと変換しました。
この変化し続ける作品の中で、気象条件はヴァイオリン、フルート、ハープ、そしてさまざまなオーケストラの音色へと姿を変え、大気そのものを交響曲として体験する場を生み出します。ライブ演奏によって、一週間分の大気の変化がオーケストラのスコアとして立ち現れ、パレスチナをその天候を通して聴く体験へと導きます。
気象データの変化に音の並びを委ねるだけで、思いがけないほど美しいメロディが生まれることに、時々驚かされます。まるで天気が歌っているかのようです。この作品では、作曲家は天気であり、私はただの演奏者であり解釈者です。

Back in 2020, I worked on a series of tracks (my first music productions ever), each inspired by a different fish species. The common factor of the fish species I chose as a source of inspiration was that their names were a hybridization concept between the concept of “fish” and something else, for example the Sunfish or the Flying Fish. At that time, I was starting to install daily a new cybernetic fin-shaped self-designed organ in my body that allowed me to perceive humidity, atmospheric pressure and temperature through bone-conducted sound in my head. I was interested in organisms that, like me, were a hybrid between the concept of fish and something else, as I was observing myself as an artificial, cybernetic hybrid between a fish and a human. Today I have the pleasure to present those tracks I created in pandemic times (when I was stuck in Taiwan), as a whole for the very first time. I always thought of this project as my first concept album, which holds the imperfectness but also the magic of someone who is just starting to produce music, discovering their unique sonic universe. I produced this work entirely with the keyboard of my macbook, learning through youtube tutorials, finding inspiration in early 2000s trance anthems and nature. No mix, barely mastered, diy, an album of demos if you like, but still a very valuable piece of work within my artistry.
I wanted to publish this album as a rare youtube album find, only available on youtube, with an album cover that doesnt allow you to know if its a recent work or from 50 years ago. The album is inspired by Japanese city pop album covers from the 80s and 90s bc some of the species and stories the album talks about are influenced by elements of Japanese culture.
I originally planned to work on this project during an art residency in Tokyo I got back in the day, which I eventually couldnt do due to covid, but today I am publishing this from my new house in Tokyo.
