A few weeks ago, I had the honor of hosting the official release of the ā€œDream Onā€ collection by Law Roach and Zendaya for /

We brought the moment to life through a workshop that gathered some of Berlin’s most respected stylists and creatives, alongside a group of inspiring voices, to co-create looks together. I also had the chance to sit down with Law for a conversation about the collection—what shaped it, what it carries, and what it means to him.

I’ve taken a little time before sharing this because I needed to sit with it. It meant more to me than I can easily put into words. I’m especially grateful that I was able to share this space with my Black queer siblings, who put the whole thing together and who made sure the day ran smoothly musically. Having them there made the moment more grounded, and deeply personal.

As a Black creative, there’s a quiet hope you carry—that one day you’ll be in a room with someone who has inspired you for years, and that you’ll be able to meet them as yourself, speak openly, and feel seen. Being able to connect with Law in that way, as someone who has broken through so much simply to exist as he is, meant everything to me. To meet him on equal footing, and to be embraced so warmly, is something I’ll hold close for a long time.

I hope this moment can stand as a small reminder to other Black queer creatives that there is space for us, and that our presence matters. I went into this with all of us in my heart.

I’m also deeply thankful for the team, for the care and intention they brought to making this happen, and for everyone who helped shape the energy of the night. And to those who shared the space with us—thank you. It truly meant something.

The past couple of years have been heavy, and I’ve been finding my way through that. This moment felt like a gentle shift, like I’m finally able to pause and acknowledge what’s unfolding. I’m learning to hold these wins with gratitude, and to let them be what they are.

thank you so much for having me /! šŸ«¶šŸ¾

when they asked me to perform I knew that i had to represent two things that are inherent to who I am.

The fact that im black, and the fact that im c*nt.

I wanted my first number to represent fierce black femme energy. From the visuals projecting black femme queens from the ballroom scene and a spoken word piece reminding us of the fight that is still ongoing for black women. I wanted to represent that audacity. The audacity to be confident, the audacity to own who you are, the audacity to be. Doechii has been an artist i’ve been following and admiring since her beginnings up till when she won her Grammy and beyond. She represents that audacity I speak about. I remember watching the ā€œWhats My Nameā€ video a few years ago, and being blown away by the artistry. The budget for the video wasn’t as big as her budgets are now but you could see a spark of a superstar there. It was captivating. She spoke it into existence and now everyone knows her name. I know her best work was yet to come, but this particular song holds such a special place in my heart. We all have that potential, to be powerful, to own who we are and chase our dreams. I feel like I’m in my ā€œWhats My Nameā€ era, and hoping I can one day make it to my ā€œAlter Egoā€. Which I will. Just you watch.

ā€œ03 (coffee bean mix)ā€

for this months #MandhlasMinutes, I wanted to share something I wrote in 2018 after traveling back to Zimbabwe. It was the first time I was home in two years (probably the two most formative years of my life) and I was confronted with the collision of realities that has changed immensely from the last time I was there. I was more open about my queerness, my femininity and my voice. I strengthened a lot of friendships, but I lost even more. What kept me grounded through all of that was ASTROWORLD by, which was blasting through every speaker in Bulawayo. I rinsed Stargazing and Coffee Bean and the day before I was supposed to travel back to Zimbabwe, I wrote this.

This is for anyone who feels different, misunderstood and unwanted. You deserve love, and understanding. You are enough and there is nothing wrong with you.

hey y’all. i hope everyone is warm and at peace wherever they are at the moment. the last couple of months have been incredibly transformative for me. i’ve dealt with anxiety in a way that i didn’t know how to deal with, and i realized i wasn’t raised with the tools to deal with it either. i found myself being immobilized, not just by the virus but also my own thoughts, my feelings, how i was being seen and most importantly, how I saw myself. Am i too angry? and i not angry enough? what does my silence mean? am i articulate enough to be able to represent, myself? am i good friend? why do i feel so hurt all the time, and why can i never maintain meaningful relationships? i feel like i’m always waiting for people to get exhausted of me and leave. exhaustion. why am i so tired? am i doing enough? i should be doing better. i should be working harder. am i being understood? i’m too sensitive. No one should be this sensitive. but how can i not be? i see myself dying in images everyday. how do i grieve? what is mourning? why does death surround me so much, when i never call for it? why does sadness suffocate me so much when i never yearn for it? is my gender identity all people see me as? i should call my mother. I should be a better son..daughter..child. I constantly felt trapped by this constant stream of consciousness and i’ve been hopelessly wandering. Recently, I lost all of my work on my hard drive that i hadn’t backed up in years. I kept a lot of music and didn’t release it because I was anxious. I’m realising that in order to change patterns, healing has to start. I’ve been working on healing, on understanding and on getting better. music, for me, is healing, and i’d love to share it with you. This song was written describing the uneasiness and heavyness of a panic attack. if you swipe, you can hear the song in full or click the link in my bio to hear it on soundcloud. it’s called ā€˜breathe’.
thank you for waiting.
