This dream started as a happy accident with just $50 and a skateboard, when our family was unable to find any satisfying store bought kimchi. This would lead Mama O to teach her son Kheedim to make kimchi the old fashioned way like she did growing up.
Back then, Kheedim would take the Chinatown bus from NYC to DC to make a batch of kimchi and then bring it back on the bus. He couldn’t afford a taxi so he rolled the kimchi home on his skateboard.
Mama O’s has come a long way since making batches of kimchi in the basement. We hired some fantastic individuals and began producing kimchi for local restaurants, bodegas, and grocery stores. There is now a production facility in Queens, New York and you can find the product throughout the United States as well as internationally. Mama O’s was even on Shark Tank!
One thing that will never change is our commitment to quality. Mama O’s strives to make the best we can every time. We are dedicated to constantly improving our products and processes while holding on to our traditional hand crafted roots.
Now in 2025, almost 20 years into the game, Mama O’s has partnered with to distribute large format products for food service nationwide!
