The menu has sweet and savoury items (Kuromi’s Pumpkin Korokke Burger and the warm Biscoff Cookie Dough were amaaaazing 😋), hot drinks and milkshakes overflowing with cream, and a delicious selection of cakes and desserts to choose from, with every dish and drink themed in the cutest most pink My Melody and Kuromi style 🫶🏻

Which made visiting Trinity College on the top of my to do list while we were in Dublin, and I was 100% there for the Long Room, one of the world’s most beautiful old libraries. I’ve visited before and it blows me away every time - especially as Gaia, a giant illuminated sculpture of the Earth, is currently on display here too.
Evie: “It smells weird. What’s that smell?”. That’s old books Evie. Old books 😍
The visit includes the Book of Kells Experience where you can view pages and details from the original manuscript of the four Gospels. I’m sure most kids won’t have much interest in looking at a page of a book that’s over 1,200 years old and written in Latin (at least, my kid didn’t 😆) but there is a fun trail with puzzles to solve that they can do as you wander through the experience.
Note: the majority of the books have been removed from the Old Library for a huge renovation project but the first 4 rows still hold books so you can still see some of the library with its shelves fully stacked 📚

Looking back at my end of year post from a year ago, I can see how far I’ve come and how much I’ve changed. I didn’t just survive 2025. I lived. I healed. I grew. Through the highs and the lows. And a different version of me is walking into was hard. 2025 was healing. And I hope 2026 is happy.

We only had a couple of free days before Christmas this year so chose somewhere close by with a short cheap flight. It wasn’t quite as pretty or magical as some markets we’ve been to before, like Vienna or Scandinavia, and far smaller, but Dublin is still a lovely city and we found plenty of smaller markets, pantos, a Santa visit and lots festive cheer 🎄
These were our favourite festive activities - save for next year!
✨ TwinkleTown - for ice skating, a fun Santa panto, Christmas stalls and rides
🧝 Elf Town - a magical journey very similar to Lapland UK which we absolutely loved
🎅🏻 Visit Santa at Elf Town - just magic! This Santa was the real deal!
🎄 Dublin Loves Christmas - rides and lots of food stalls
🇮🇪 City centre/Temple Bar area - wandering the streets for Christmas lights and festive cheer

This a lovely part of the city to stroll around, the streets all paved with cobblestones, a traditional pub on every corner, most with live Irish music playing, endless Guinness and whiskeys to sample to warm you up on a winter’s day, and the most jolly atmosphere inside. But the downside is that it is incredibly crowded and touristy and a coke plus two rum and cokes did set us back €41 😦 so it doesn’t come cheap!
I would suggest simply wandering here and taking in the sights before heading to a cheaper and less crowded pub away from the centre across the river. Still with the live music and the cosy Irish vibes but with less of a price tag!
TIP FOR FAMILIES: children are allowed in most pubs up until 6pm so go earlier in the day if you want to experience the traditional Irish pub scene 🍻🇮🇪
