Although my losses were apparent to everyone, many of the internal struggles I went through weren’t visible to others. The feeling of the hopelessness was just a small part of my struggle, but people’s comments and actions towards me for not having children made the pain even worse. The truth is that so many women today have to deal with infertility, and also societal pressure associated with it.
I saw friends around me who had struggled and gotten help, and it inspired me to seek help from a fertility specialist. But after so many years of struggling, I had come to terms with maybe not having children.
So I prayed, and left it to Allah. If it was meant to be, it would happen.
We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl.
After 7 years of trying, we were blessed when the time was written for us.
I want to remind everyone that things will happen when they happen. Everyone goes at their own pace. Everyone will get what is written for them, when it is written for them. But please don’t lose hope.
I also want to remind everyone that not all struggles are visible. Please be mindful when asking people when they plan on having kids. It’s often these well intentioned comments or questions that cut the deepest.
