As this year comes to an end, I couldn’t let it pass without targeting OST (Orange-Spotted Trevally) from the shore—something I’ve always aimed for. But honestly, each fishing season feels different, and this year wasn’t as impressive as previous ones.
For some, it might have been the best year, while for others, it was a real challenge. That’s the beauty of sport fishing—it’s not just about the number of catches. It’s about understanding the how, where, and when of fish behavior and adapting to changes.
On another note, I’ve observed a growing issue with some salesmen in the industry. It’s disheartening to see a monopoly of products being sold without understanding their relevance to our region. My advice? Spend time on the water here in the UAE. Understand the playground, adapt to climate changes, and learn the sport firsthand. Only then can you truly represent the gear you’re selling.
Earning respect and trust in this community isn’t easy—it’s earned through experience and knowledge. Learn from experts like myself, and together, we can elevate the sport.
