I come from a town called Korangi in Karachi. Life was not easy, we came from a humble background. My father worked tirelessly; his day job didn’t pay enough so he drove a taxi after hours just to make ends meet. His dedication shaped my understanding of hard work and sacrifice from a young age.
I studied at a government college and earned my bachelor’s degree. Like many others, I was searching for a job, unsure of what was next. But life had a surprise waiting for me and I was awarded an MBA scholarship through a Pakistani TV show called Inam Ghar on Geo Tv Network (Story for another day). That moment changed everything.
I pursued my MBA while working during the weekdays and classes during the weekends. I still remember switching two buses every single day just to get to work and university. It was not glamorous, but it taught me the value of persistence and patience. Every late night and long commute were a step toward something greater.
Later on, I moved to Dubai, with no idea where the journey would take me. Starting over in a new country was overwhelming, but it gave me the space to grow and the opportunities that I could not even think of in my wildest dreams. Today, I am far from where I started, but not yet where I want to be.
Little Maira with big dreams would be so proud of me. My life journey is still ongoing, but one thing is clear, I know my goal, and I will keep moving forward until I get there.
