This track was something else though, we couldn’t even figure out the time signature from the first few phrases. Not expecting a reply, we messaged Balu chettan on Facebook, who replied and confirmed it was set to 7/8. Years later, now, I wanted to study and play this track. It was still as difficult as I heard it the first time 14 years ago and took days of practice at half the tempo, just to figure out some parts.
This is a dedication to that genius who inspired a lot of young kids to pick the Violin. Thank you paving the way and giving your art to the world. I’m sure heaven is a better place because of your Music.

It all started with an idea of harmonising this part from the famous Carnatic composition “Maathe”, two years ago. From there, with the blessings of the divine energy herself, the project grew musically leaps and bounds in ways I never imagined. There is a fabulous team of musicians and cinematographers whose talent can be seen in every second of the production. It’s also my first time being behind the mic to record something other than the Violin.
As always, thanks again for being here, with me, every step of the way. We have come a long way together and we have an even longer journey ahead.

A lot happened in the past few months; long story short- I moved to Italy, and started my Master’s in Music and Acoustic Engineering. While most days rush by in a blur, I made this track on a rainy night here, seeking some stillness. The opportunity to share this calmness with you makes it all the more special.:)

This album was born out of a singular thought of passing on the gift that music has been to me. This was the only way I knew to say thank you, to my parents who sacrificed (and still do) their time, energy, and sleep; to my Gurus for being the kindest to a rather-slow music student; and to Carnatic Music, for being the coolest artform- transcending boundaries of time, math, science, all at once.
I’d also like to wholeheartedly thank my co-artists and brothers whose musicianship have always been an inspiration and experience to devour. If you enjoyed the album, it’s 100% because of their presence. for being a rock throughout this creative process and in life.
