I for one know how difficult and isolating January can be which is why I made such an effort to get to this free fundraiser for a charity that helps with mental health support and resources.
The evening consisted of stories, poetry, & live music. It was a real mixture of humour, action, and thought provoking. All in all this is the kind of connectivity to seek out to remind you youāre not alone.

But if you climb three flights up those gorgeous stairs and turn the corner, youāll eventually stumble across Rose Bakery, and it feels like a completely different world.
The staff are honestly some of the friendliest Iāve come across, and thereās loads of seating so you donāt feel any pressure to rush or hover over your coffee. The skylights and big windows make the whole space feel light and breezy, which is wild considering youāre right in the middle of central London.
The well priced food menu looks great, thereās a slick counter full of fresh bakes, and you can even take home their beautiful recipe book if youāre tempted. We tried the (very fitting) rose petal matcha, which tasted so fresh and subtle ā such a nice surprise.
Youād never expect to find such a spacious, calm spot tucked away in a streetwear haven just behind Leicester Square, but thatās kind of what makes it so special

Thereās a set menu for Ā£66, and the whole experience just feels so thoughtful and intentional from the moment you sit down.
The space itself is so dreamy. Custom wooden tables with the cutlery and menu tucked away in little drawers, sweet candles everywhere, dried flowers dotted around which all adds to that rustic, candlelit vibe without feeling try-hard. The staff exude a gorgeous energy too: so friendly, so knowledgeable, and really good at giving recommendations based on what you actually like (plus they make seriously banging cocktails).
The kitchen is set up to the corner of the bright space as you walk in through the leafy door. Itās an innovative European menu with some really interesting pairings ā earthy beetroot balancing salty steamed skate and smoked mackerel, flavours that feel clever but still comforting. The brown butter with warm sourdough that came out at the start was honestly to die for.
Surprisingly, my favourite dish was the Waldorf salad of fresh farm veg, the crunch of chestnuts, the chew of muscat grapes - simple but perfect. And the scotch egg? Absolute perfection.
If you love this spot, Iām told youāll also love their sister restaurant over on iconic Exmouth Market⦠which is now firmly on my list

Oh and thereās a barbershop in the centre of the space, which keeps the energy constant and makes it feel busy without being overwhelming. Thereās a mix of seating options from comfortable velvety couches to more playful, statement chairs plus games you can pick up and play and a small Pac-Man machine, which adds to the casual, social feel.
They rotate their specials, and of course I had to try the Madeleine matcha latte, but I also spotted a gingerbread latte, a pandan latte, and a dark orange hot chocolate on the menu.
I think this coffee spot is the place to bring or meet your crush š§”

I always get a bit existential around this time of year as another year passes and I grow another year older. Things arenāt necessarily where I might have guessed they would be but Iāve also had so much greatness come my way and ticked things off that I probably couldnāt have ever dreamed about before which is also important to acknowledge that the both can be true at once. Stepping away from things that donāt feel right has actually become my greatest strength and I wonāt worry about how it looks from the outside or let my own fears about holding things up take away from that. Itās been tough seeing so much on social media about resolutions and new beginnings when for me this is actually the most difficult time of year. I read an interesting piece about how spring is a much more natural time for fresh beginnings plus you can literally rebrand anytime and as many times as you like!! So hereās a little reminder if youāre also feeling a bit heavy with it all to just listen to your intuition, embrace the earths natural cycle, and ease up on yourself.
There isnāt loads of seating, but there are a few built in benches dotted around. Itās the kind of place you pop into for a pause, an espresso power-up, a matcha or hojicha moment, a chance to sit, breathe, and feel a bit more like yourself again. Bonus points for all the alternative milk options too.

This place feels like stepping behind the scenes of a working museum, crossed with a curious wanderer in IKEA.
What I loved most was the clear intention behind it all: conservation, collecting, and care. A gathering of objects and sources that feels deliberately broader ā an attempt to hold history not as something fixed or polished, but as something layered and lived.
Standing alongside the faƧade of the now-demolished Robin Hood Gardens (a community social housing project), listening to the audio stories of former residents, I felt completely enthralled.
It might just be the first time Iād had a truly positive, grounding realisation of sonder ā that every object, every room, every person carries a life as complex and textured as your own.
Itās also strangely moving to look down and watch everyone else visiting. Such a varied, individual crowd, all unknowingly representing now. It made me wonder what future historians will say about us, which details will survive, and what will end up shaping the version of today that gets remembered.

Iāve had some uncomfortable feelings brought up too - jealousy, comparison, restlessness. Instead of burying them down, Iām trying to acknowledge with curiosity and less judgement of myself for feeling that way. Itās forcing me to look inward, to ask what I want, what I want to try next, and how I can show up for myself better.
Choosing inspiration over comparison. surrounding myself with people who make me want to grow and helping water them at the same time.š

After some work wins this week it feels like such a relief to know that planning ahead is possible and Iām actually able to look forward to Christmas and the new year rather than just trying to stay afloat. On top of that, I had an incredible experience that reminded me of what I love and want to do: being with people, connecting, sharing moments.
I also had my first proper night out in ages. I donāt usually do that sort of thing, but it was a place I love the music was perfect, and I was surrounded by a mix of old friends and new faces. What struck me most was how safe and looked after I felt. I laughed, danced, and just lived in it. It was a reminder that joy doesnāt have to be complicated it can just be being in the right place at the right time, with the right people.
Even autumn, which I usually dread, feels a soft. The sun has been out enough to make the colder days feel lighter. Iāve actually been enjoying layering up, playing with clothes, leaning into the cosy TV nights, and feeling grateful for the love and friendships that surround me.
Things always have to get better and right now Iām revelling in it.
