Donate a kind message to one of our shelter pets and your words will be displayed to remind them they’re loved, seen, and worth waiting for.
There’s still time to participate, and every donation also enters you into a drawing to win a beautiful hanging flower basket from The Flower Bin 🌷

After entering our SafeKeep program because of emergency circumstances at home, Allie eventually needed a forever family of her own. As a senior girl who needed a quiet home without other pets, she waited longer than we wished she had to.
So while she waited, she became everyone’s coworker. She spent her days hanging out with staff, greeting visitors at the front desk, and reminding everyone to stop what they were doing and give her attention.
Now she’s finally retired into luxury living with a family all her own. We already received an update of her snoozing peacefully in her new home, and honestly, it feels exactly right for her.
Sometimes life takes a turn that nobody wanted. But sometimes those changes still lead exactly where they’re supposed to.
If you’d like to help more animals like Allie, our May Flowers campaign is still going on. When you donate a Spotlight of Kindness flower, you help fund daily care for shelter animals, support projects that make the shelter feel more welcoming and comforting, and help bring more attention to pets who are still waiting for their person.

Ginger has been waiting for months, and shelter life is wearing on her in a heartbreaking way.
She came to us as a transfer already skinny, and the stress of being in a kennel only made things worse. It took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error to figure out how to help her feel even somewhat comfortable. She had a short foster respite where she finally got a chance to decompress, but back at the shelter, the kennel stress came rushing right back.
What makes it even harder is seeing who she is outside of the kennel.
At 10 years old, Ginger still has so much life in her. She gets excited for walks, loves stopping to sniff everything, and will proudly go to town on a hard chew toy like it’s her full-time job. She’s goofy, spicy, affectionate, and still has that little spark of chaos that makes people fall in love with her. Give her a cozy bed and someone to hang out with, and she’s happy.
One staff member called her “an adorable goofball with an optimism that won’t quit.”
Another said, “She flourishes with calm, slow, patient people who let her take her time.”
Ginger is recommended for homes with high school aged children. She may do well with another dog after a dog meet, but no cats for this girl.
She deserves more than spending her senior years this stressed and overwhelmed. There is still such a good, funny, loving dog in there just waiting for someone to give her a real chance.
Please help us get Ginger home. 🧡

Canelo may star in Fast & Furious: Chihuahua Drift, but off the racetrack he’s actually the gentlest little guy currently available for adoption and waiting for his forever family! At 2 years old, this sweet boy politely asks for ear scritches, rides quietly in purses like a pro, and just wants someone to love him. He’s good with dogs and kids of all ages, and while he hasn’t been tested with cats, we have no reason to think he’d have any issues. Shelter life has been a little overwhelming for him, and sometimes the stress makes this sweet boy cry and whine while he waits for his person.
If you want to brighten Canelo’s day (or the day of any animal in our care), our May Flowers campaign is still going strong! Donations help us provide comfort, enrichment, medical care, treats, cozy beds, and all the little things that make shelter life easier while animals wait for home. Even sharing posts like this helps spread kindness and visibility to pets who need it most. 🌼

The shelter can feel overwhelming for her, and when she’s scared, she can appear reactive in her kennel. But once she feels safe and comfortable with someone, her real personality comes out and it is impossible not to love her.
She is goofy, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. One minute she’s cuddling up for attention, the next she’s playing hide and seek behind a pole making everyone laugh.
Sky is 2 years old and:
🐾 Dog friendly and required to go home with another confident dog
🐾 Cat friendly
🐾 Looking for a home with high school aged children or older
🐾 In need of multiple visits before adoption so she can build trust at her own pace
She is not an instant connection dog. She is a deep connection dog. The kind that is worth every bit of patience ❤️
This weekend, Sky is also one of SIX mystery dogs who are EXTRA ready to go home. Their adoption fee is reduced to $50 + $30 rabies vaccine and includes a leash, collar, and other goodies to help them settle in.
Stop by this weekend to meet Sky and discover the other 5 mystery dogs 👀
No pressure BUT if you’d like to brighten the shelter while supporting the animals waiting in our care, May Flowers is still blooming throughout the building 🌸 Personalized messages can be donated to Sky or any of our adoptable animals.

When one very determined, very blockheaded dog decided kennel glass was optional, Meier All County Glass jumped into action to get the kennel repaired fast so we could keep every space available for animals in need. (And yes, the lovable blockhead behind the chaos was totally okay and adopted shortly after. 🐶)
They didn’t stop there. Their team also worked hard to replace cracked kennel glass throughout our shelter, helping our dogs put their best paw forward instead of being seen through worn, damaged panels. It may seem like a small detail, but creating a brighter, cleaner space makes a huge difference for both our animals and the people meeting them.
Bonus points for no more dogs mistakenly being the one blamed for age-old cracks in the glass.
On top of all that, they are also sponsoring our upcoming Putts for Mutts golf tournament on June 8th, and we are incredibly grateful for their continued support of the animals and people in our community.
There are still a few foursome and individual player spots available, so grab yours before we sell out! ⛳🐾
Thank you, Meier All County Glass, for always being willing to step up when we need you.

Galaxy is a 6 year old sweetheart who may be a little shy at first, but with slow greetings, she quickly warmed up to everyone here at the dealership. 💙
She’s listed as both dog and cat approved, walks nicely on leash and is ready to find a loving family to call her very own! She had the best time rolling the grass and can’t wait to spend summer days playing outdoors with her new people.
If you’re looking for a calm, sweet companion, Galaxy might just be your perfect match. Stop by to meet her today!

Dogs can’t tell us when pavement is becoming painful until the damage has already started. Paw pads may seem tough, but they can still blister and burn surprisingly quickly on hot surfaces. Puppies, senior dogs, and short-legged breeds are especially vulnerable because their bodies are closer to the heat radiating off the ground. The safest move is to think beyond the air temperature and pay attention to what your dog is actually walking on.
A few easy ways to stay ahead of it:
• Walk early morning or later in the evening when surfaces have had time to cool
• Choose grass or shaded routes whenever possible
• Remember that dark asphalt and concrete hold heat long after the sun drops
• Watch for subtle signs like hesitation, paw lifting, or stopping suddenly
If you have ever felt that instant “ouch” from barefoot pavement, that is exactly what your dog experiences, just without shoes or a quick way to tell you.
Save this for later or share it with someone who walks their dog daily. It is one of those small habits that can prevent a big injury.
