Happy NEW month!

Reflecting on the first 31 days of the year, I am truly grateful. We have so much to be thankful for and celebrated so much already.

We left the first couple of weeks empty for an intentional reset, and it was a perfect way to kick off the year.

Here are some highlights from the month of Jan:

1. Proud of him, 2 studious years down, EMBA done!
2. Another year around the sun for MyQueen, grateful.
3. Day Dates for the WIN with MyLove.
4. Out on a school night with MyFaves.
5. I have had breakfast more times this month than I did in the whole of 2023. Never been a brekkie babe, but-I am making progress. Do you eat breakfast?

Feb, let’s go, I’m ready for you!
Forestry England is back with a brand-NEW trail across their sites. We really look forward to their annual trails. The collaboration between and is a match made in heaven and such a great way to get families outdoors.

We are avid Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler fans, so we are always intrigued by the next trail theme. Forestry England is celebrating 25 years of ‘The Gruffalo’ with a birthday party-themed trail this year.

The trail is available at 26 forest sites nationwide; we visited Jeskyns Community Woodland in Gravesend. There are five activity panels along with rubbing stations, two of which include interactive elements. There are also 15 smaller spotter panels where you can search for missing party items. The boys particularly enjoyed the fun and games, but they also loved learning how plants and animals look after each other. Their buzzword from the trail was photosynthesis!

There are trail packs available for purchase at the visitor centre; they are £4 each. The trail is only 1km long and takes roughly 45 minutes to complete. It’s aimed at ages 3-9, but I honestly think it can be enjoyed by all.
It’s a year-long trail, so you have plenty of time to visit.

Have you been to the?

We finally made it down over the weekend. We really enjoyed it, and I would definitely recommend you visit!

’s #BubblePlanet is an immersive experience across 11 different rooms. The rooms feature fully interactive bubble-themed activities, from VR to ball pits, giant balloons and, of course, bubbles!

It’s great for adults and children alike, so it’s something the whole family can enjoy; plus, under 4s go FREE, and you can save on family tickets. You can also use my code LOLAM256 to get £4 off tickets!

The ball pit was a firm fave; I just wish it was better manned by staff. It was so busy, and so many older children were diving. Goodness me, one landed on me, and it hurt, so I can only imagine if they had landed on a younger child.

What’s great is that you can move from one room to another at your own pace. The website suggests it takes approximately 60-90 minutes to go around the experience, but you are welcome to stay as long as you want; we spent closer to 2 hours. I reckon, with children, it will always take a little longer as they’ll be into it.

The complementary bottles of bubbles and Mochi Ice Cream towards the end were a lovely small treat. I’m for activities we can all enjoy, not every day being reduced to spectating coat holder- that being said, there is a cloakroom to leave all your stuff.

has to be one of our favourite UK Family staycations.

#TheMoleResort is in Umberleigh, a charming village in North Devon, about a 3.5-hour drive from Kent/ London. We stayed in one of the eco-lodges, and they were so spacious. That is one of the many reasons why I am so quick to recommend it for a family/ group stay.

The lodges are less than one year old and spanking new. They have two, three and four-bedroom lodges which can sleep up to eight. All the lodges have at least 1 family and 1 en-suite bathroom. What’s great is the 2-bedroom lodges are interconnected, and together, they can also sleep 8. Did I mention each lodge comes with its own hot tub?

Umberleigh is so picturesque, with beautiful countryside surroundings, and you get to enjoy the views from the large balconies and alfresco dining. We had planned to explore the countryside during our visit but did not end up leaving the resort. There were just so many activities onsite; there really wasn’t any point.

We spent five days at the Mole Resort, and I would return without question. They currently have a great offer, where if you book 3 nights or more by 31 Jan, you can get up to 33% off your stay in 2024. It’s such a great saving for a quality stay!

Over the weekend, we took the boys to for two incredible productions.

AD We kicked off the morning with Ready Steady Lift Off!, an A-Line Art interactive production for 3 - 8-year-olds, where we explored space and even built our own rockets! I really do love how they combined live performance, music, storytelling, facts and colouring into one interactive theatre show.

Avery: ‘Mummy, this was amazing. Usually, we always watch the show, but this time, we got to be in it!’.

Levi: ‘Mummy, can you please put the photo of me and my rocket on the iPad (he means his nursery app)? I want to show all my teachers.’

It is so good the boys got to take their rockets home, and the fact they were still talking about it last night is enough insight into how much they enjoyed it! As you can imagine, this is a very popular show, so tickets go fast; I suggest you book promptly as you only have until 18 Feb.

After lunch, we then watched Three Billy Goats Gruff (photos credit: Tim Hills), a musical for ages 3 -7. The show was EPIC! I can see why it’s back so soon, and deffo recommend you catch it before it ends on 18 Feb.

The music didn’t miss a beat; they had me bubbling and all sorts. The storyline was simple to follow, and the set and costumes were captivating enough to keep the boys engaged. If you have young children and you are keen to introduce them to musicals, this would be a perfect debut for them. But even so, if your little ones are well-versed in theatre, they’ll love it!

The Unicorn Theatre is really spoiling us this year, and we are loving it!

Canary Wharf’s FREE Winter Lights Festival is back!

Yesterday, we headed to for their annual FREE outdoor exhibition. This has become a tradition for us and something we can all enjoy.

There are 13 temporary installations along with the six familiar permanent installations right across the Canary Wharf Estate. The boys’ favourite was undoubtedly Submergence- the walkthrough experience of suspended lights, and we were all glad to see it return. However, we also loved Kinetic Perspective 32 illuminated spinning circles, the interactive LED light sticks and the newly commissioned Neuron installation. Basically, there is plenty to see, familiar favourites, but also brand new commissions.

To make your way around the trail, you can download a map from the CW website/ app, but plenty of stewards are drafted around who can provide paper copies.

The crowds were relatively modest, so I strongly recommend visiting on a weekday instead of a busy weekend. We made that mistake once, which was rather overwhelming, particularly with two young children.

We drove and parked in the Waitrose car park. If you spend a minimum of £10 at Waitrose, you get two hours free parking Mon - Fri and three hours free parking on weekends and bank holidays. Also, if you spend a minimum of £10 at any other participating shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, you get three hours free parking on weekends and bank holidays.

There are only 10 more nights to visit as the festival ends on 27 Jan. What’s great is it’s open daily from 5 - 10 pm, and no booking is required.

Will you be visiting this year?

So, after much deliberation, we finally made it to the for the EmotionAir #exhibition, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

#EmotionAir explores the relationship between art and emotions through inflatable art, and it is perfect for EVERYONE! There is plenty of opportunities to touch and equally plenty of please do not touch installations (even I wanted to touch 🙈). Notwithstanding, we all had a blast!

Hyperfeeling, the pool with yellow small balls and a ceiling of yellow sky of balloons was the boys absolute fave. We were deffo the last ones out, not me begging the boys the come out and the staff finding their dramatics so humorous they were struggling to tell us to get out. Avery said it reminded him of the ball pool we went to Amsterdam, but BIGGER…LOL!

The tickets are pricey, but they always have one offer or another, for example they’re currently doing 20% off with the code ‘BM20’, plus under 3s go FREE! We, personally enjoyed it, we spent a good 2 hours of enjoyment so I’d recommend it!

Have you been already?

If there is ever a reason to go out on a school night, is one of them. Swipe through to some clips from the show and our expressions.

AD We went to see their new show,. I say new, but Alegría is actually an all-time Cirque du Soleil classic reimagined for the new generation, and we absolutely fell in love with it.

This is our second time seeing #CirqueduSoleil LIVE, and they never disappoint.

I am sure I said this last time, but I’ll say it again: Cirque du Soleil are top-tier with their circus performances. I Love how they combine acrobatics, theatre, and live music; their costumes are surreal; let’s not even get into their sets and stunning visuals; they are truly first in class.

Their playful humour makes it a fantastic experience for the whole family. But equally the perfect night out with friends or even for a date night. They are only here until the beginning of March before continuing their European Tour.

Lola, how many days do you get off?

The same as you, I just maximise mine.

I often get this question a lot. Here is one of the many travel hacks I use to elongate my annual leave and create uninterrupted quality time with my family or, even more recently, alone.

We (England and Wales) get eight bank holidays in the UK in 2024, from New Year’s Day to Boxing Day. That’s the fewest we’ve had since 2021, so there’s even more incentive to make them count.

You can create longer continuous breaks by strategically planning annual leave around bank holidays and weekends. These extended breaks can be particularly valuable if you’re looking to have prolonged relaxation, far-flung travel, be available during school holidays or to engage in personal projects without the interruption of workdays in between.

With Avery in school and me trying to carve out time for myself intentionally, it is so important to make my these days count.

I will be utilising the Christmas one to spend more time with family and the Jan one to reset, how about you?
