Look at this winter weather and tell me you don’t also want to run away.

Ad| One minute I’m damp in Wales, the next I’m defrosting in Gran Canaria with a pina colada in hand.

We stayed at (honestly… stunning), flopped between about seven pools, ate dinner in a safari tent for reasons I still can’t fully explain, wandered around Puerto de Mogán, went on a boat, ate an ice cream, and briefly discussed moving here forever.

Gosh, we needed this. Proper vitamin D reset.

When you've just demolished one of the best pizzas in London, you’re walking it off like a sensible adult…

Then posters of giant sized Hong Kong French toast and Char siu beigels made both our heads turn. Right there. On Brick Lane. About 20 metres away.

At that point, walking past would’ve been rude.
Brick Lane’s usually all about curry houses and beigels, so this one genuinely caught me off guard - and anyone who knows me knows I’m never saying no to char siu pork.

You can have it solo, with cream cheese, or with scrambled egg. I wanted all three (obviously), but the McDonald’s-style ordering screen humbled me real quick, so pork + egg it was. Crisis managed.

Meanwhile Llio - who hadn’t had dessert in at least a few hours - went straight for the sweet stuff. Hong Kong French toast and two Hong Kong milk teas with condensed milk. No notes. Zero hesitation, although the tea was a bit too sweet and rich for both us.

The beigels? Fresh from the legendary Beigel Shop across the road. Proper ones. Squidgy, dense, no stupid massive hole ruining your life mid-bite.

The eggs were silky, beautifully soft. I could’ve done with a bit more char siu, not gonna lie, but what was there? Elite. A few slithers of spring onion on top pretending we’d made a healthy choice.

That Hong Kong French toast though… golden, crispy, dripping in joy and stuffed with peanut butter. Light syrup, a wedge of butter, maple on the table if you fancy going rogue - although it could’ve done with being warmed up a touch, as it was like trying to get blood out of a stone.

Even four cocktails and a pickleback deep, I remember thinking: this would cure absolutely any hangover. We only meant to try “a little something”… but being surrounded by tables full of proper scran made that decision very questionable. Safe to say, we’re going back.

First up next time: the Hong Kong curry taking pride of place on posters on the walls, satay beef, and the pork chop bun.

This is Hoko Hong Kong Cafe on Brick Lane, top end near Bethnal Green Road and yeah… I’ll definitely be back.

Came for the small plates. Stayed for the funky wine and the DJ.
Bambi is that place in Hackney right now — the one where dinner quietly turns into a night out and you end up staying longer than planned. Tables get moved, the music gets better, and suddenly it’s not really about eating anymore.

If you’re in East London, go. Just… book ahead. The seats are hot and they don’t hang around.

📍 Bambi — London Fields, E8 3RL
🕒 Opening times: Tues–Sun for dinner + drinks (Tue–Thu evening, Fri & Sat afternoon to late, Sun afternoon to early evening) — book ahead because the seats actually go.
🎧 DJ vibes:
✨ Thurs DJs ~9–midnight,
🔥 Fri & Sat DJs start ~9pm & party till ~1am with tables pushed aside,
🍷 Sun more chilled but still tuneful.

Small plates, funky wine and killer tunes — a night out that feels like a night out in 2026. Book ahead or miss out.

This is the most expensive Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten. And honestly? I was very curious.

Ned’s Feast at The Ned is £120 a head (or £190 if you go for the champagne that just… keeps quietly arriving). You 2 hours of unlimited everything — lobster, oysters, roasts, salads, the lot. It’s the kind of lunch that sounds like a very good idea and a mild personality test.

Let’s start with the important bit: usually in a buffet like this, the veg are a bit… tired. But everything was actually really well done. Even the roasties — crispy outside, fluffy inside. And yes, there is unlimited, pour-your-own gravy. Which feels both dangerous and correct.

The beef was cooked perfectly. The pork porchetta was genuinely excellent. Huge pigs in blankets, big Yorkshires, and proper bread sauce — which I will always support, in any court of law.

The seafood is cold (and I am a hot garlic butter kind of person), but it’s still very good. The salad bar is fresh, the oysters are great, and the sausage roll was weirdly one of the best things there oh and the salmon wellington

Desserts are nice — nothing life-changing — but the build-your-own crumble is the emotional core of the experience.

It’s actually a really calm, civilised affair. No chaos. No plate-stacking competitions. There’s live jazz, which makes everything feel more special and slightly more grown-up.

Service was genuinely excellent. Just a small emotional footnote: there’s a 14.5% service charge on top.

Would I do it again? Probably not — there are too many other places in London I want to eat. Am I glad I did it? Absolutely.

If you’re looking for a big, special, slightly unhinged Sunday lunch in London — this is quite the experience.

If you think your house is small, try living in Swtan, the last properly thatched cottage on Anglesey that’s still standing. lovingly restored and run by local volunteers (Friends of Swtan) who refuse to let this slice of real Welsh life fade away.

The cottage you see today mainly dates from the late 18th century, but the settlement of Swtan goes back much further, people have been living on this bit of coastline since at least Tudor times, probably earlier. This kind of small, practical, thatched cottage would once have been completely normal across rural Wales.

Families lived here well into the late 1800s / early 1900s.
Not as a holiday cottage. Not as a lifestyle choice. Just… real life.

The house tells that story in its bones:
• The crogloft upstairs where people slept
• The earth floor
• The tiny windows to keep heat in and wind out
• The layout designed around survival, not comfort

By the mid-20th century, almost all cottages like this had either been:
• Modernised
• Knocked down
• Or simply abandoned

Swtan survived by pure luck — and later, thanks to local people who refused to let it disappear. It was carefully restored using traditional methods, she’s a beaut.

You can walk inside (virtually a time machine), see how families actually lived around 1900, and marvel that they did it without radiators, tumble dryers, or even decent Wi-Fi.

📍 Where: Church Bay / Porth Swtan, on the wild northwest coast of Anglesey, perfect to pair with coastal walks and beach breezes and the best scone on the island & don’t leave without popping to for a pint.

🕰️ Open: Seasonal — usually Thurs–Sun, ~12–4pm in the warmer months (check before you go; it’s closed over winter and reopens around Easter).

This isn’t just another place to tick off the list, it’s a proper hidden gem that makes grand old castles look like holiday homes. Go give it some love.

2026 is the year I get stronger, feel better in my body… and finally see my vagina again. We’ve been estranged since about 1999. It’s time to reconcile.

Here’s the thing: I love food. Not just eating — the whole experience. The Wispa on the sofa with Corrie. The “just a quick coffee” that turns into cake and a life debrief. Looking at the menu before you even leave the house. Someone else cooking for you. And that slow-motion moment when the waiter brings your food like it’s Baywatch. Honestly. Romance isn’t dead. It’s holding a plate.

I don’t want a life of sad salads or punishment workouts. I want balance. I want to eat strong. I want to feel stronger, lighter, more like myself, without giving up joy.

So tell me… what actually worked for you? Gym, walking, swimming, Pilates, something unhinged but effective? I’m all ears.

And… would you like to join an online group so we can get stronger together and, respectfully, see our vaginas again? Consider this your formal invitation.

One of the best pizza slices in East London — and it’s not trying to be loud about it 🍕

This place is doing proper New York–style pizza — big, foldable slices, crisp base, light dough, but with serious Italian ingredients doing the work behind the scenes. The flour, the tomatoes, the cheese… it’s all intentional. No gimmicks. No over-complication. Just really good pizza.

What made it stand out even more? Vincenzo’s Pizza isn’t just about the food.
Tom, the owner himself was floating around, checking in with tables, chatting to customers, making sure everyone was happy. That kind of care changes the whole experience, you feel it the second you walk in.

It’s the sort of place you stumble upon, order one slice… then immediately plan when you’re coming back.

Save it for later.

Spent a sunny day in Machynlleth, and as always, it delivered! This small but mighty market town in Mid Wales is one of our favourite spots for a slow wander, great coffee, indie shops, and unreal food. We never pass without stopping.

The charity shops in Mach? Elite. I’ve found so many of my favourite home decor treasures and vintage trinkets here, it’s a thrifter’s dream.

Grab a flat white from one of the many cosy cafés, browse the brilliant small businesses, then head to Gwen for brown butter waffles fried chicken, a cheeky cocktail or even a tasting menu if you’re feeling fancy.

Add this one to your Wales weekend getaway list
Support local, shop small, eat well, very well.

A Luxurious Breakfast at Hide in Mayfair: Our Sumptuous Start to the Day

When Nicky and I decided to treat ourselves to a luxurious breakfast, there was no doubt where we wanted to go: Hide in Mayfair. Hide has been the talk of the town, especially after its chef, Ollie Dabbous, closed his previous Michelin-starred restaurant to much public dismay. But he's back, and this time with something spectacular for the morning crowd.

Located on Piccadilly, overlooking the serene Green Park, Hide presents a calming ambience with its wooden interiors and stunning glass structure. It's like stepping into a sanctuary of gastronomy. The restaurant's design, especially the statement staircase, immediately sets the tone for a dining experience that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.

Our breakfast at Hide was a journey of flavours and innovation. We began with their twist on classics: I indulged in ripe honey mango paired with Thai basil and kaffir lime, a dish that burst with freshness and vibrant flavors, truly like sunshine on a plate. Nicky, on the other hand, chose the cardamom bun with pomegranate, mint, and a surprise gooey saffron center – each bite was an aromatic, flaky delight.

Then came the main attractions. I savored the best Croque Monsieur I've ever tasted, while Nicky treated himself to luxurious scrambled eggs on brioche toast, topped generously with fresh black truffle – they certainly did not skimp on the truffle!

No luxurious breakfast is complete without a toast, so we sipped on Bellinis, adding a touch of fizz and cheer to our morning. This breakfast wasn't just a meal; it was an experience, one that came to £170. It's not your everyday breakfast spot, but for a special occasion, it's absolutely perfect.

If you fancy booking, make sure you book. Located at 85 Piccadilly, London.
