πŸ“š Another 5th Grade Battle of the Books is in the books and Team Lincoln is your winner! πŸ† Team Horace Mann gave them a run for their money in the final. Congrats to all who made possible this fun Jeopardy-style contest that celebrates reading! Amazing to see how much the students retained from the 8 books they read over the school year. Shout out to the for providing the books, team adivisers and the staff members for keeping the teams that weren't competing busy with craft activities related to the book themes, and to April Hoy, and Jennifer Johnson for organizing! #LKWDstrong #readingisfun πŸ“š
Horace Mann is ready. Are the ready? Students and staff are bringing serious (and silly) energy in anticipation of tonight's big Eastern Conference Finals Game 1! πŸ˜œπŸ€

Safe to say, it's not just Horace Mann, we are ALL IN for the Wine & Gold! Let’s go Cavs!!
Last night, the Board of Education hosted its annual reception to celebrate the school year's retiring staff members. This year, 36 of our staff members will be heading off to new chapters. Eighteen of those 36 retirees were thanked in person at the Board meeting for their years of dedicated service to our district. Superintendent Niedzwiecki, Treasurer Rohde, and the Board members personally thanked each honoree and presented them with a gift of appreciation. We are incredibly grateful for the contributions all our retirees have made to our schools and community, and we wish them the very best in their post-Lakewood Schools life. πŸ’œπŸ’›
The gas odor at Lakewood High School has been addressed. Students and staff will return to school tomorrow, May 19.
It's time for more Monday Memories! This 1960s photo of Aeronautics class proves that Lakewood High has always been a school that offers a rich menu of elective courses.
The high school will be closed on Monday in order for the gas company to repair a suspected gas leak.
Congratulations to the 10 Grant and Horace Mann third-graders who participated in yesterday's Spelling Bee at Lakewood Public Library! Five students from each school competed in a single-elimination competition that ended with Horace Mann's Mae Hallahan taking home the winner's trophy! Mae spelled the word opalescent correctly to claim the victory. We are so proud of all these students and the other Spelling Bee Club members who practiced spelling words for months in preparation for the bee. Shout out to their advisers, Sarah Lynch and Tracy Somoles, as well! πŸπŸ†
