Being a student athlete was probably one of the hardest things I ever had to deal with. Missing camps for practical lessons, having to revise whilst being across the world competing but also trying to make time for my friends, family and most importantly MYSELF YOOOO IT WAS A STRUGGLE.
I cried a lot of the time, considered dropping out and just play and see where the wind would take me. But I can actually say that whilst playing netball professionally, I was still able to complete my degree with a very good grade which a lot of lecturers didn’t think would be possible (I don’t really blame them tbh😭)
To all the student athletes out there, especially the new ones, I’m telling you now IT IS POSSIBLE. You can play sports and get a degree. When you have the right support system in your life and most importantly the Almighty Lord, I promise you it’s possible. Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through CHRIST who’s strengthens me” not through yourself but through Christ who gives the strength and power to push through whatever it is you’re doing.
Shoutout to everyone in my class man, you man helped me on a different level. To the lecturers and the staff that actually believed in me, massive shoutout to cos boy oh boy you kept me together in clinic and held me accountable. To for your support when it came to the meetings and getting my netball timetable to match my uni timetable and for putting up with me as well.
Ever so thankful for this experience, definitely will not be going to get another degree anytime soon but I am just soooo proud of myself for completing this marathon x
