"If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door" - Milton Berle
Oh hello! Morgan here, owner of Little Mod Nest. Long time no see! I unfortunately cannot attend the Mother's Day business show tomorrow like I had planned, but I wanted to leave a little update there on a table anyway for those wondering where the heck I have been.
My beloved storefront has been closed for almost 1 year. I've been pretty bummed about it. Stepping away from this business has been very difficult for me, because I genuinely love what I do. The store closure happened for a couple different reasons, mainly because of the damage caused by the pandemic, but I knew in my heart that it wasn't forever. I've received many kind and encouraging messages from so many of you, and it has really inspired me to not give up on my dreams.
I've taken the last year to recover emotionally from the stress of the last few years that the pandemic and a personal medical complication has caused in my life. I feel ready and excited now to restart my business venture and I'm very pleased to announce that I will be REOPENING!
That being said, things won't be quite the same as before when I first open and I will be operating on a much smaller scale than before for the time being - and that is okay. It is going to take me a little while to recoup what I have lost from government closures, so I'll be starting with a simple and limited inventory - but it is the first step of reopening for me. I have a very cool expansion planned for the future and this new beginning is a stepping stone and important piece to that puzzle.
Anyone with outstanding gift cards will still be able to utilize them upon my reopening..custom orders will continue to be available at that time as well. I'll catch up with everyone this weekend who has been messaging me.
I'm so excited to get back to sewing and creating and continuing to build this beautiful community we have going.
If you are a small business owner in the community in the family/wellness sector, please reach out. I'm interested in working together. Big new changes coming soon. Wish me luck! π€
-LOCATION AND REOPENING DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON-
Just wanted to let you all know I am still here (especially those of you with gift cards!) and I will be working hard this year to make my expansion dreams a reality.
I have scary changes ahead of me. I saw these quotes a few days ago that solidified my decision to move forward with what I know I want for my business and have been debating on for a while. I need to leave my worries and concerns and judgement from others about it in the past. I don't want to look back at 80 years old and wonder what could have been just because someone who isn't of the same lifestyle or mindset told me they don't think it'll work. The first rocket ship, submarine, and cellphone probably sounded crazy too.
I always seem to have a bad case of imposter syndrome and I'm always second guessing and doubting my abilities and it puts me in frozen mode. I get stuck in a paralysis cycle of not doing a single thing to move forward because I don't feel like I should in fear of being judged more. When in reality I've recently realized what better person than me to be accomplishing what I want to do when I know I'm already armed with the knowledge, skills, and talent to do it?
My business circumstances throughout covid and when I got sick after Olive was born do not define the path my business and my years of sleepless nights and hard work deserve to take.
Growth doesn't come from our comfort zones and it surely doesn't come from remaining exactly what we are in this moment. Prayers for my self confidence please... π I'm on a wild journey in 2023.

PS. I will respond to your messages tomorrow. And will of course post more here. π©·

This is my first post on Instagram since the beginning of September. I've been in a bit of a slump lately. Closing my store doors has really affected me emotionally and I'm struggling to cope with the new reality of not having a big storefront anymore. I try my best to be a positive person but this has really taken a lot out of me and quite honestly my heart is broken. I absolutely love having a storefront. I truly get excited to go to "work" each day.
I have so many wonderful expansion plans that I know would flourish so well in Dryden, but they require funding - and funding always takes extended periods of time to apply for, when the likely possibility for many businesses means being denied and having dreams fall apart before your eyes.
I have plans to submit my business plan in November and hopefully receive an answer by December. So to those who message to ask when I'll reopen - I'm not sure if or when we will ever reopen. But please know that I'm not giving up!
I just also want to thank you all for the support while I am in this hopefully only temporary business transition and for being so patient with me when I take a while to answer messages. My husband and I are in the process of becoming the owners of a new property restoration company in town so I've been a bit preoccupied by that so I can still support my family while I'm closed.
I don't want to ramble but wanted to give a little update. I hope you're all doing well, and I do have some exciting things to post after this while I patiently wait for a space for my business to forever call home.
Thank-you. π€

Some of you have been patiently waiting for me to finish this! "Does this caffeine make me look alive?" skelly mom featuring a mom bun, bottle, diaper, and coffee cup. π This will be available on clothing (s-5x), mugs, tumblers, phone cases (iPhone + Android), bags, notebooks, and more in a variety of colors.
It's September 1st! Fall is upon us, and so is the holiday season in the retail world. I have exciting news that my website will soon have a feature integrated into it where when you order, your order will automatically be made by my supplier and shipped directly to your door! These items are professionally printed on high quality products. This is a huge step for my business as I am a 1 lady show and while I appreciate the immense support you all give me making orders, passing off creating products with my designs to another professional facility will take a huge weight off of my shoulders and allow me to focus more on other aspects of my expanding my business. I'll still be offering custom work, but this new addition of help to my business will allow you as the customer to also purchase a wider variety of products and colors with my designs I create.
My Northwestern Ontario Family collection will also be uploaded to the website very soon. If you need a product sooner than when my website is ready to go in September, you can message me and I can manually input an order for you to be delivered to your door in just a few days (some products take a bit longer). π

I will be open tomorrow starting at 11am to help serve customers for both of our inventories. I hope you will come out in the near future and see what Jennifer has in stock here in Dryden. I was browsing earlier today and I wish I could take the entire thing home to my own wardrobe. π β€οΈ
Our hours will be Wednesday-Friday, 11am-5pm and Saturday, 10am-4pm. I will be working Monday and Tuesday from another location on top secret expansion plans. π π
We are looking forward to seeing you all. I'm so happy to have this space as a transition to our forever home coming soon.
Thank-you all!
Though I may not have a physical spot right now for you to visit, I am still very excited to announce that our website use will finally be amplified for our customers. Since I am temporarily working from home, I am going to dedicate my time to sewing, product sourcing, business plan writing, and website uploading! I will also be attending markets and doing pop up shops. I am working on having a small retail spot for you to stop by as well.
My goal this summer and throughout the rest of the year is to offer wonderful products to our community that you all find useful, but to also move forward with funding my expansion plan for my business. My first goal is to purchase a commercial juicer and blender which will play a big, tasty part in our reopening.
To start this process of expanding and offering these helpful items to your families, I will be placing an order for the beloved Jan & Jul aqua dry Gro-With-Me sun hats, Urban Xplorer sunglasses, and 2-piece UV suits this weekend. The hats and sunglasses were a huge hit the last 2 summers and I've decided to add swimsuits this year!
I spent the last few hours working away and now you can place an order for all of these on our website until Sunday evening.
I will deliver them to your front door when they arrive or you can pick them up from me. They will be here within 2-3 weeks (mid June). I will contact everyone when they arrive. Please remember to choose the "Dryden pickup/delivery" option if you are from town to exclude the shipping cost. You can also order from our site if you are out of town and I will ship it to you! We offer free shipping on orders over $150. Afterpay is also activated on our website, which allows you to pay for your order in installments over time.

This beautiful space is no longer serving the needs of my business for long term plans, and that is okay. Growth comes in different stages and at times you least expect it. I took a deep dive into this space 3 months before the pandemic started. And while the unknown of the world took over and created a rocky road for me the last 2 years, it also inspired me to push forward and expand what I love to do, which is why we are moving to the next stage and expansion (more information coming soon). The experience here during covid has been heartbreaking but has also been a positive movement in my life. Forcing me out of my comfort zone and trying to better serve the community with new services in the future. It has been a wild but joyous ride and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
I absolutely love my "job" and I genuinely do love going to "work" each day. This is all a true passion of mine, and whenever these new plans I have are able to flourish, boy do I have a true treat in store for you all and a true gem coming to life here in Dryden.
I am really looking forward to what the future has to hold, and I thank every single one of you for your support and love during this temporary transition. I have been overwhelmed by messages and comments and people coming in to support our last hoorah in this building.
Only greater things to come from here. Thank-you. β€οΈ

I am still able to be reached through Facebook messenger for orders. Curbside pick up can be arranged.
We are closing the storefront. With a heavy heart and a few tears I must announce that Little Mod Nest will be closing its current storefront doors. Please read to the end.
The good news is that this is (hopefully) temporary as we have found a possible permanent space to purchase for our long term expansion plans (as long as everything falls into place). A space where we can breathe new life into the Dryden area and offer new exciting things to new and returning customers. I have rented buildings for the last 4 years of business and to own my own space for my own business would be an absolute dream and take a big weight off of my shoulders.
Our current space does not align with our future expansion plans because of space issues so we have chosen to move. COVID has also made things extremely difficult for business owners like me and I have been considering this decision for quite some time. I will announce the day we will close the doors after I confirm the date.
The new space we are considering is not available until spring 2023 so for the time being I will be selling online, at markets, and possibly collaborating with another storefront until we know for sure what is happening with this future permanent home of Little Mod Nest. I will have my new website up and running by summertime so those of you who are out of town can easily order. You can always contact me via Facebook or email. I will be posting photos of clearance inventory with discounts or you can come shop in store Monday-Thursday 10am-3pm and Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm.
"Never give up because great things take time." Writing a business plan takes time, writing a budget takes time, construction takes time, design takes time, financing takes time, and fine tuning details of everything takes time. There are so many factors playing a part in our next move and I am doing my best to stay patient. Please be patient with me as well. We will reopen our doors sometime, somewhere with a wonderful new expansion. GREAT AND WONDERFUL AND EXCITING THINGS ARE COMING - even when they seem so far away! π
