Big Grove Dulovici surrounded us with forests, and Old House Mikanov Do had a timeless, old-world charm. Planina Čakor quickly became my favourite, with endless mountain views and meals lovingly prepared by Gordana, our host, whose care and warmth made every dish feel connected to the place itself. The farm stays, the hospitality and the quiet moments were often more memorable than anything a five-star hotel could offer.
We also drove through Durmitor, stopping to take in soaring peaks and dramatic landscapes. Every place, every meal and every view quietly stayed with me long after the trip ended, and I keep returning to those memories whenever I think of Montenegro, a place I would love to visit again 🇲🇪🏔️🍃🐎

To get here from London, or from most European cities, the easiest option is to fly into Salzburg. From there, it’s just over an hour by car to Bad Hofgastein, with a straightforward drive through the mountains 🏔️
On ski days, it’s easy to head straight onto the lifts and be back at the hotel by the afternoon. For non-skiers (like me 😌) the area also works well for winter walks, spa time, and exploring the town below, making it a flexible winter destination 😍❄️☃️🧣🛷🏂🚠⛷️
