Honored to see my essay ā€œNo More Siestitasā€ published by one of my literary heroes,, in The Audacity today. A significant moment for me as a feminist, artist, and emerging writer.

Thank you to Dr. Gay and for giving this work a soft, safe space to land and be witnessed.

I also want to thank my creative writing community at. I workshopped this piece at the atelier last fall, and the thoughtful feedback I received helped me elevate it from good to publishable. I have undoubtedly become a better writer thanks to the mentorship of our incredible teachers and the talents and comradery of my peers. Community is everything!

Also pictured: the poem this essay started as. Thank you for reading. 🌹
I’ve been holding onto this song for a long, long time. It’s so good to have it out in the world now, in two languages! 🄰

Thank you to everyone who’s listened, and to these outlets for their thoughtful, generous words.
Ben oui, I had to wear my best beret for the occasion šŸ„–

I kicked off my 34th year by paying the grave of Tove Ditlevsen a visit. I have been a dedicated fan of Tove’s writing for some time, and often feel an almost eery sense of kinship and understanding when I read her writing (disconcerting—the poor gal offed herself at 58. That can’t bode well… anyway!).

That eery kinship was made all the eerier when I learned, a few months ago, that she died on March 7, 1976… 16 years to the day before I was born. šŸ‘€

So, I thought, why not take this interesting little factoid as a sign to pop over to Copenhagen this birthday? To eat some pastries (I’m sorry, but I fear I prefer Danish pastry to French pastry… 😬 Actual tears came to my eyes when I bit into the vanilla bean custard roll pictured in slide 4). To drink some nice coffees. To take some slow and meandering walks and marvel at an entire population obeying traffic and crosswalk rules. To NOT bring my stupid fucking laptop and instead crack open a notebook and do some long overdue writing. To take my lil Pisces ass for a swim under the stars (and to sauna, of course!). To throw back a stiff old fashioned and some oysters drenched in chili oil at midnight. And to commune with my birth/deathday twin-in-reverse (or something???): the brilliant and tragic Tove Ditlevsen.

While standing in front of Tove’s modest grave early on Saturday morning, I posed her a few questions, including: ā€œTove, how can I be more like you (a great writer)?ā€ And, ā€œTove, how can I be less like you (a mentally ill drug addict with terrible taste in men)?ā€ She didn’t respond verbally, per se, being dead and all. But the chilly air was giving off a definite ~vibe~ and I picked up something along the lines of: Write—constantly, you dummy; avoid Demerol at all costs; celibacy, or guilty until proven innocent, and you must never, and I mean NEVER, make them the point. āœ… I scribbled down the vibes. ā€œNoted,ā€ I told her before saying farewell.

It was the best birthday I’ve ever had! Thanks Tove! Thanks Copenhagen! Thanks to all of the beautiful, caring, dear people in my life who made me feel so special this weekend with their texts, calls, voice messages, and thoughtful tokens of affection. Xoxo 🄰
The lyric videos for Don’t Tease Me & Ne me tourmente pas are now live on YouTube and at the link in bio.

For this single, I used all images I took back in September when I visited Monet’s gardens in Giverny with my grandpa’s old camera in hand.:) I think he would have gotten a kick out of that. (My grandpa, not Monet. Although…)

If you watch closely, you’ll see the water moving and the sun slowly setting over the course of the video.

Thank you to for bringing movement to my still image through VFX.

Thank you for listening and watching. Bisous! 🌹

My first bilingual single, Don’t Tease Me / Ne me tourmente pas, is out now. Listen to both versions on your platform of choice at the link in bio.

This song lived many lives before finally finding its home in two languages. It turns out, I really love to sing in French – accent and all.;)

Thank you for listening. 🌹
On February 25, I’ll release my first bilingual single. Two distinct recordings of the same song: one in English (Don’t Tease Me), one in French (Ne me tourmente pas).

I’ve lived in Paris for four years now, and it felt entirely natural to let my music cross languages. Can’t wait to share this new work with you next week. Xo

December marks a big month for Atelier Rose… It’s the month I officially registered the organization as a non-profit! 🌹 And it’s the month Atelier Rose found its new home: this kind of magical little space I found shortly after learning that I, along with all the artists in my former studio building, would have to leave on Dec. 1 (the bank took it back… capitalism, etc.).

As sad as it was to say goodbye to my cozy (and cheap) studio at Les Arches, I’m incredibly grateful to have found this new (and hopefully long-term) home for Atelier Rose, and for my own musical projects, too.

Building Atelier Rose over the last year and a half has brought a lot of light into my life during some pretty gnarly darkness. Seeing writers and songwriters deepen their craft, express their creativity, support one another, and make real headway on their projects has been so heartening and fulfilling. Thank you to everyone who has joined, supported, taught, and encouraged this community over the last 16 months.

I want this studio to be a place where people gather to grow, share, and inspire one another. A place for concerts, literary readings, film screenings, exhibitions, and eventually even artist residencies. It feels wonderful to be stepping into this new era, full of possibility, and pouring into something bigger than me.

I’m all in on this thing. See you soon at Atelier Rose! 🌹✨
Rest in peace, Dad. āš¾ļø

Saying goodbye through words is the best way I know how. I had the honor of writing my father’s obituary, which you can read in full at the link below, if you’d like to know a little about the man he was.

Life was not always kind to my father. He was not always kind in return. But beneath an exterior hardened by hardship was a childlike vulnerability—occasionally glimpsed, so raw and open it brought tears to my eyes and evoked a bewildering woe I still don’t quite know where to put. I’m just holding it here in my chest until the day comes when everything makes sense. I’m sure he already has all the answers. He is free now.

ā€œAnd when you finally fly away,
I’ll be hoping that I served you well.
For all the wisdom of a lifetime,
no one can ever tell.
But whatever road you choose,
I’m right behind you, win or lose,
forever young.ā€
