And with an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party she seemed so very grown up.

We're enjoying a week staying at my mum's over Easter and it's been a welcome relief after pulling a muscle in my bank yet again. Clearly I've been trying to do too much and this is my bodies way of telling me to slow down.
I hope you've all found some time to relax after the Easter weekend too.

This is undoubtedly one of my favorite days of the year. I know for many parents this massively stresses them out but honestly what we find works for us is a trip to our local charity shop. There there usually will be plenty of very cheap costumes to dress your little ones up in ( especially in the weeks leading up to World Book Day)
Last week pretty much every charity shop I went into had a rail with World Book Day costumes and Lily picked out the one she wanted which was Goldilocks in the Three Bears.
She was so pleased with herself leaving for school today in her costume. For the price of £3.50, a pair of tights she already had and an a basket we're going to use for Easter, it was relatively stress free.
Did your little ones dress up for World Book Day and if so what did they go as?

We've had a really good through of Lily's bedroom and in particular all her picture books.
I don't think we realized quite how many she had until we set ourselves the task of sorting through them all. But boy it feels so good to declutter.
We've now cut down on the sheer number, especially ones she's outgrown such as the old board books. Plus, we've got rid of the old bookcase that was falling apart (from holding too many books). Now we just have a few smaller book storage shelves as you can see in the pictures.

Do you have a little one who loves dragons? Then they will love this Christmas themed dragon tale.
Tailored to a slightly younger audience than The Boy Who Grew Dragons, A Christmas Delivery is a wonderfully joyful story of siblings Tomas and Lolli who are not alone in being hugely excited for Christmas, there family of dragons are too. However just as they are about to deliver the family’s presents, a new dragon hatches from its egg and brings with it a whole lot of snow. With grandad's car stuck in the snow, how are they going to ensure that everyone gets their presents in time for Christmas?
The book emphasizes the joy that comes with giving to others and not just receiving. The illustrations are bright and colourful and I loved the portrayal of the relationship between the children and their grandad. This was a really captivating, heartwarming read.
A huge thanks to publisher templar books for this copy of the book.

In Dig!, you'll join archaeologists on excavations, marvel at the most incredible archaeological finds, and even witness the world as it was hundreds, thousands and millions of years ago. Real-life archaeologist Ruth Hatfield is your expert guide to the wonders of this amazing science, peeling back the layers with bitesize, clear and simple text. Illustrator Sophia Watts brings the past to life in buzzing, detail rich scenes and spotlight artefacts.
This was such a fascinating read both for me and for Lily. Growing up I’d always wanted to be an archaeologist, so this was a book I loved sharing with my daughter.
Some of the facts we enjoyed reading were about a Greek palace buried 3,000 years ago by a volcanic eruption and the afterlife army of China's first emperor.
I particularly enjoyed discovering all the ways you can get involved in archaeology (besides visiting a museum) including joining archaeology clubs and even volunteering at a dig!
Thank you to and for allowing us to be part of this tour.

What picture book have we read more than any other in the lead up to Halloween?
It's this wonderfully imaginative The Cafe at the Edge of the Woods by Mikey Please.
If you've not already I'd highly recommend this picture book.
We also have the second one but I'm saving that.

🧙♀️Leila the Perfect Witch by Flavia Z. Drago
🧛♂️ Vlad the Fabulous Vampire by Flavia Z. Drago
🍄The Mushroom of Doom by Becky Davies & Thomas Elliott * gifted
What are you reading this Halloween?

Mushroom is having the worst day EVER. First, he's not picked to go on the pizza (and Pineapple is chosen instead of him - can you BELIEVE it?! PINEAPPLE!).
Then, Milk spills all over him. And then he's thrown in the compost bin. I know exactly what you're thinking... it's time to build a mushroom army and take revenge!
This was such a fun read for both me and Lily. You can’t help but put on the silly voices whilst reading this. Not to mention the evil cackle.
I liked that it explains to young readers what the word revenge means. It’s also liked the way the text was laid out, which made it clear and easy for us both to read. It has the sort of jokes that will also appeal to adults as much as children.
I’m also hoping that my mushroom averse 4-year-old might actually start eating them now. One can only hope!
Thanks to for sending a copy of this in your recent giveaway.
