After 4 years, 10 months(1742 days to be exact) of living with a Tracheostomy, Mateo is officially decanulated.
We are so overwhelmed with emotion words cannot explain.
We are grateful to God because without Him, this would not be possible.
We remember all those days of exhaustion, many of them with uncertain but full of love and today we are with Mateo in the process of assimilating and healing and grateful for every day we wake and live, breathe and love, we are truly blessed.
That day Mateo went in for a Bronchoscopy procedure and when he came out heno longer has his Trach, leaving only a Stoma which is the small hole in his neck.
The stoma will be closed on its own in a few days. Fortunately it doesn’t require any surgery.
The video will show people who have been part of Mateo’s journey since his birth. People who have since then become a family and we are grateful to have in our lives.
While in the hospital they celebrated his upcoming birthday, it was a beautiful surprise.

Después de 4 años, 10 meses (1742 días para ser exactos) de vivir con una Traqueostomía, Mateo es oficialmente decanulado.
Estamos que no cabemos de la emoción, agradecidos con Dios porque sin Él esto no hubiese sido posible.
Recordamos que esos días fueron de desvelo y muchos inciertos pero llenos de mucho amor y para la gloria de Dios, hoy estamos junto a Mateo compartiendo en un proceso de asimilación y sanación en el que agradecemos por cada día que despertamos, de vivir, respirar y amar, estamos grandemente bendecidos.
Ese día le hicieron una Broncoscopia a Mateo para revisar que todo estuviera bien con su tráquea y cuando despertó ya no tenía su cánula dejando solo su estoma, que es el pequeño orificio en su cuello.
La estoma cerrará sola por completo pues afortunadamente no necesitó de cirugía.
En el vídeo aparecen personas que han estado con Mateo desde que nació, personas que se han vuelto familia.
Los días que estuvo en el hospital le hicieron un festejo por su cumpleaños y fue una verdadera sorpresa para Mateo.
