There's a place that actually looks as good during the daytime for shooting landscapes as it does at sunset?
Well yes, and that place is the wonderfully alpine, incredibly emerald glassed Lake with two names..Lago Di Braies (and Pragser Wildsee to give it it's Tyrolean name).
We stayed just up the road in a wonderful alpine homestay and hiked into Lago Di Braies a couple of times.
For the chilled out, cooler (temp) vibe with empty rowing boats and glass-like water then come here early or late when the boats are running.
For the colourful, Lake Moraine style, alpine lake view then simply head to the west of the lake during the day and you'll be treated to some glorious colour.
For info: this was from October 2025 - great time to visit the Dolomites

I've been wanting to visit Montenegro ever since I saw Casino Royale (although ironically I believe it wasn't actually even filmed there) and we finally landed here and headed straight for Durmitor National Park.
For a couple of nights we stayed in a cabin right next to Black Lake which afforded us some epic views right on our doorstep.
At 5:30am, just as the light began to pierce through the curtains, I trundled down to the Lake, mist rolling in from the mountains and took a stroll around the perimeter.
The vibe here is definitely a cross between Eibsee and Lago Di Braies. 100% worth a visit

Nestled just south west of Bath is the picturesque village of Pensford. This lovely location has an epic photo spot, a dedicated ledge, that you can snap away an amazing view of the river, church, houses and Pensford viaduct behind.
When you've finished snapping, pop into the for a relaxing pint in the beer garden that sits on the river with some more amazing views of the viaduct and countryside.

The third and final favourite lake in Europe, the super famous Hallstatt!
In fact, Hallstatt is equally famous in China where it was the scene of a famous soap opera wedding (think Scott and Charlene - Neighbours 98). So enamoured with this place, the Chinese promptly built an (almost) replica over there in the Republic. Bonkers but amazing (fact courtesy of our amazing photo tour guide )
