Founded in 1447, originally as a Latin School, the site became an agricultural college in 1890 and later merged with the University of London and Imperial College London. In September 2009, academic operations were shut down, and the campus closed, sitting abandoned ever since.
A 4 hour train journey on what started off as a rainy morning, turned into a relatively nice day. This was a solo visit for me but I bumped into other explorers whilst there, which was a surprise considering at the time I wasn’t seeing anything recent online about the college and I just went here on a whim. I also went off to look at the ADAS/DEFRA research labs down the road that are also abandoned. I got on site, but there was no access to the main building, so I made my way back to the station for a lengthy journey home. I’d originally tried this place once or twice as a teenager so to be able to return and get in was nice.
