Please excuse the marketing but we thought you ought to know that gift vouchers are for sale in the shop and on our website.
We’re rather taken by these hand coloured engravings by the Parisian caricaturist J.J. Grandville from the series Les fleurs animées, 1847. Soon to be priced and put out in the print bays.
A wee bit of bookshop and local history for you this afternoon...

Back in 1983 when we were trading from a (very) small shop on Grant's Close, we republished "Reminiscences of Inverness, Its People and Places" by John Fraser.

Originally published in 1905, it gives a fascinating account of the town as it was in 1845. The book takes the form of a narrated walk through the town, stopping frequently to comment on the buildings, history and inhabitants of the city.

We printed 1500 copies and, although these are now long-since sold out, from time to time they turn up amongst books people bring in to sell.

If you'd like to know more just send us a message or ask at the desk the next time you're in!
We were lucky to recently have local Highland musician visit the shop after hours to record a live session with songs from his new EP, Lighthouse. A great way to spend an evening - maybe we should invite an audience next time! Have a listen and check out Stevie’s page for more!
New in: this certainly isn’t your average children’s alphabet book…

Neil Gaiman and Gris Grimly’s subversive take on an abecedarian fairy tale is a wild ride. They claim it’s suitable for ages 5 and up but we’ll let you judge that!

Inscribed and signed by Gaiman on the title page. Enquiries welcome via DM. **SOLD**
A freak gust of wind blew in the lovely stained glass window over our entrance this morning. It's all been made safe now but we won't be looking our best for a while!

Luckily the small individual panes somehow all made it through unscathed so we should be able to put things back together just how they were!
A small announcement - we recently made a Leakey's tote bag and since it's proving so popular in the shop we decided to make it available to buy online via the link in our bio!

We're only making 50 available in this first batch - more will follow but if you would like one before Christmas it's best to be quick!
Log fire season has started here at the bookshop! 🪵🔥
Reopening Monday 26th April.
