voir des cachalots dans leur habitat naturel est une chance immense. les voir dormir, se nourrir auprès de leurs mères, inestimable. croiser un requin longimane, de si près, une rencontre effrayante pourtant si paisible et hors du temps. l’océan est fascinant. et son respect doit toujours être de mise. fuyez les excursions touristiques et tournez vous plutôt vers des guides conscients et respectueux du monde marin. nous avons fait confiance à pour ces rencontres et si vous aimez et respectez la nature et ses habitants, allez-y.
nager avec les cachalots est illégal à l’île Maurice pour de nombreuses raisons propres à ce pays et comporte aussi de nombreux risques. ce n’est pas quelque chose à faire à la légère, ou si vous n’êtes pas à l’aise en mer ou pour nager. mais je préfère cette « illégalité » qui vise à finalement protéger les cachalots et baleines de l’homme plutôt que d’autres illégalités du quotidien. ces cachalots vivent à l’île Maurice en famille depuis des années, c’est une famille entière résidente de l’île, et j’espère que le tourisme ne nuira pas à cette espèce si majestueuse.
