Often the muscles that feel “tight” are actually working overtime to compensate for poor movement patterns, reduced core stability or weakness elsewhere. Constantly stretching them may provide temporary relief, but it doesn’t always address the real cause.
Long-term change usually comes from improving strength, control and the way your body moves - not just increasing flexibility.
If the same muscles always feel tight, it might be time to look beyond stretching alone.

Posture braces, support garments and wearable posture devices are often marketed as the solution to poor posture. While they can provide short-term relief, awareness and support in specific situations, they don’t address the underlying cause of the problem.
Your body adapts to what it relies on. When external supports do the work for you, the muscles responsible for maintaining posture can become less active over time. This may lead to further weakness, reduced endurance and greater dependence on the support itself.
Think of it this way: wearing a brace doesn’t teach your body how to hold itself better - it simply holds you there.
Long-term postural change comes from improving the body’s capacity to support itself. That means:
✔️ Building strength in key postural muscles
✔️ Improving mobility where restrictions exist
✔️ Retraining movement patterns and habits
✔️ Developing endurance to maintain good posture throughout the day
External supports can have their place during injury recovery, flare-ups or specific short-term situations, but they should never replace active rehabilitation.
The goal isn’t to wear better posture. The goal is to build a body that can maintain it on its own.
The reformer is one of the main pieces of equipment I use in rehabilitation. Although it looks complex, it’s simply a moving platform with a system of springs that provides adjustable resistance.
The carriage slides back and forth on wheels, while the footbar, straps and ropes allow exercises to be performed in many different positions - lying, sitting, kneeling or standing.
The coloured springs provide different levels of assistance or resistance:
* 🟡 Yellow = Extra light
* 🔵 Blue = Light
* 🔴 Red = Medium
* 🟢 Green = Heavy
Unlike traditional weights, the springs don’t provide a fixed load. As they stretch, the tension increases, meaning the resistance becomes greater throughout the movement. This allows exercises to be tailored to each person’s strength, mobility and stage of rehabilitation.
I use the reformer in rehabilitation because it allows people to build strength, improve control and move with confidence in a way that often isn’t possible on the mat alone.
It’s not about making exercise harder - it’s about making movement smarter.
➡️ Swipe through to get to know the different parts of the reformer.
Recovery doesn’t stop after an adjustment - it continues with movement.
Our new 40-minute Chiropractic + Reformer Rehabilitation sessions combine hands-on chiropractic care with personalised rehabilitation exercises designed specifically for your injury and goals.
Here’s what a session looks like:
🔹 We begin with your chiropractic treatment to improve joint movement and reduce pain.
🔹 We then move onto the reformer, where you’ll be guided through a tailored rehabilitation programme specific to your condition - whether that’s back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, postural issues or general weakness.
This isn’t a Pilates class. It’s a 1-to-1 rehabilitation session, using my training as both a Chiropractor and a fully qualified mat and reformer Pilates instructor to select the right exercises for your stage of recovery.
The goal is to help you:
✔️ Build core strength and stability
✔️ Improve posture and movement patterns
✔️ Increase strength and mobility
✔️ Recover from injury and reduce the risk of it returning
By combining treatment with targeted movement, these sessions are designed to help you not only feel better but stay better.

Your sleeping position could be placing unnecessary stress on your spine while you sleep.
The good news? A few simple adjustments can make a big difference.
Remember, there isn’t one “perfect” sleeping position for everyone - but maintaining good spinal alignment throughout the night is key.
Joint “clicking” or “cracking” is most commonly caused by tiny gas bubbles rapidly releasing within the joint fluid - a completely normal physiological process known as cavitation.
Despite the long-standing myth, current research has found no evidence linking habitual joint cracking with the development of osteoarthritis. Multiple studies comparing people who crack their joints regularly with those who don’t have shown no increased rates of arthritis over time.
In most cases, painless clicking is harmless and simply reflects normal joint movement and pressure changes within the joint.
However, if clicking is accompanied by pain, swelling, locking, instability or reduced movement, it’s worth getting assessed by a healthcare professional.
Try holding each stretch for 30–60 seconds and focus on slow, steady breathing 🧘♀️
