Why is dinner so haaaaaard??
For me *actually easy* meals are:
🥞Pancakes (comment pancake for my sourdough pancake recipe). Add protein powder and some fruit and done! It can be very nutritious.
🍿Popcorn & smoothie: popcorn for fiber and then make a smoothie with some fruit and even throw some vegetables in (I do frozen cauliflower rice or frozen avocado).
🍖Snack plate: turkey. cheese, crackers, grapes, pickles, nuts, etc. Very simple!

How do we, as normal parents, just trying to feed our families, decide what to feed our kids?
Most people are trying to feed their families more fruits and vegetables and that already matters a lot!
If you are trying to make a few swaps, the EWG Dirty Dozen list can be a helpful tool (tool, not bible). Not because food should be feared, but because some produce tends to carry more pesticide residue than others. I prefer to know vs not knowing!

Tips:
🍓I try to buy organic when possible. For me, I’d rather skip conventional strawberries and buy frozen organic strawberries, when the price of fresh ones is too high.
🍏Some things on the higher pesticide list are easy to find organic options and not too expensive. Spinach and apples, for example, are both reasonably priced at Costco.
🍌Not stressing if I buy conventional bananas, avocados & watermelon (yes, I’ve seen the videos, no I’m still not stressing over these being conventional).
🧽Washing produce well. A 2025 study shows that washing can “significantly diminish” pesticide residues because many pesticides remain concentrated on the surface of produce.
🥭Frozen fruit in a smoothie is a super easy way to get in all the good nutrients.
Feeding your family should feel practical and sustainable and not fearful.
