Putting my head down, focusing on one foot in front of the other💪🏻

Last week I hit my highest week mileage since last June: 49.5 miles 🏃🏼‍♀️

Running is starting to click, hoping I can start adding more strength back in & not aggravate the old fibroids🙏🏻

It’s been interesting navigating something that I can’t see or can’t necessarily heal🫣 but one day at a time!

Anywho I was happy to end my week with my ride or die 🚴🏼‍♀️ it’s been a minute since I had company on my runs! #solorunner

My heat acclimation is trending like the temps📈

Been trying not to shy away from the heat but to embrace it a few times a week!

My HR was a little higher than target but my effort felt controlled! Was supposed to stay around 145 but ending up with 148 so not terrible given the 95° feels like.

Except when it spiked to 163 when I was literally a few feet from getting hit in the crosswalk! I’m glad I’m always alert when crossing because I know drivers are not😡 this particular crossing is always mind boggling to me. It’s in a neighborhood, there are signs alerting you before the crosswalk, there a speed bump before, there’s big yellow signs & flashing lights.

The car on my left stopped & I waved as a thank you only to turn to my right when a Jeep came flying over the speed bump! The tire screech was so loud! And I stopped dead in the middle of crosswalk.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here but this has been happening so frequently (to me) that it’s so concerning! SLOW down when coming up to any crosswalk! You just never know!

is there anything more you guys can do to help! Clarkson, Goodson & Orchard are all crosswalks I’ve almost been hit recently!

Anywho, my run felt good up until then! Then it was trying to keep my HR down from anger not heat. It wasn’t the heat that almost killed me 😤

FINALLY! I have some answers to what might be causing my pain🙌🏻

Going to be completely honest here! I started having groin pain last May. I went to my PT thinking it was my labral tear or maybe a stress fracture (similar symptoms to what I had years ago) but after evaluation she didn’t think it was either! Gave me some exercises but I was heavily overcompensating which I think ultimately caused my knee issue last July!

After taking time off running, doing more PT & strength the groin pain would come & go! I couldn’t really pinpoint still what was helping & hurting.

Fast forward to February, the pain was getting more frequent & painful! I’ve seen multiple drs! Have had multiple tests! I felt like every-time I left, I got another puzzle piece but no one knew where to put it!

Last week I saw another Dr & finally someone took the time to hear me & did another ultrasound! I have 4 uterine fibroids (one is the size a golf ball) and where it’s located, she believes this is contributing to my pain & my hormones have been going crazy which can contribute to their growth & behavior! Among other things! Which I’m starting to see a lot of correlations!!!

I do have a consult to discuss removing them but the earliest appt was August & the down time is about 6 week!!! So at this point I wouldn’t do anything until after Chicago! I’ve dealt with the pain this long!

Happy to know that I’m not crazy! Happy to finally have a dr listen to me! Happy to finally have some answers! Still a lot of unknowns but closer to a resolution (completing the puzzle)!

But as you can see I’m still running. I’ve been very cautious though about running & the pain! Trying to avoid any other overcompensating injury. Lifting has changed as well! Finding a balance has been key to managing the pain!!

Long story short! ADVOCATE for yourself! Keep pressing until you get answers!!!

If you made it this far, thank you ❤️

This Fit always gives me confidence 🧡🔥

And it must of showed!!! Thanks to the cute little old ladies on the trail for making my day🤗 after I completed my warmup & strides & before I started my workout they came over & said “wow, you looked great” “what are you training for”? They were so impressed that I was training for the Chicago marathon.

The one little lady said I used to run & loved racing at sea level! Spoken like a true CO runner 😅

I saw them again at the tail end of my workout & they gave me the biggest smiles & 👍🏻👍🏻

It felt so nice! I really hope I see them again! They made my day & made me smile😃

It also made me forgot about the heat training I was currently in🤣

WO:
2mi warmup + strides
2x3mi (2’ rec)
15’ cooldown
10.06 total - MLR are back

And happy to report I’m 28% heat acclimated 😆 gotta ways to go!!!

Expect & Respect it!!!

This has been on repeat in my head since I heard it🔁

If you are coming back from injury, time off, PP or just starting this is for you!!

Expect & Respect the burn…we all feel it & we need to tell ourselves we can handle it & push through! It’s not always easy but we will be stronger for it!

So next time you start to shake or think you can’t go any further…tell yourself you WANT IT MORE than you want to give up!

Keep going 🙌🏻

The best feeling weekend in a long time🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I feel like my Heart rate is starting to come around! My body seems to be warming up quicker, not taking as long to get into a groove.

Trying to embrace all the weather & get my body acclimated to everything I can. Saturday was warmer & Sunday was humid (for CO).

I had a little pain after my lift on Sunday but the pain seems to be less frequent so I’m remaining positive & hopefully it’ll just disappear 🙏🏻😅

Why does it feel like Time stands still on the tread😵‍💫

60 minutes is 60 minutes unless you are on a tread! Then it feels like an eternity!

Yes, it’s a great tool in a pinch for me but 9.99/10 I will choose running outside!

Does it get easier the more you do it🤔 LMK!?!

If running has taught me anything, it’s that Progress is Progress no matter what the end result may be🙌🏻

We build for months even years for a one day shot at achieving our goals. Unfortunately, the odds are usually not in our favor but that doesn’t mean we haven’t built or grown stronger in the process. And if our goal remains important to us, we need to take as many shots as possible until we make it.

I will continue taking a shot at a Sub 3 until I achieve it.

Keep working hard, keep taking shots…for you miss all that you do not take🫶🏻

It’s never too late but why wait…start chasing your dreams now✨

The thought of running a marathon was always so daunting for me since I always seemed to be injured. It wasn’t until I was 2018 at the age of 36 when I felt healthy enough to try & thats when I started dreaming about qualifying for Boston. I ran my first marathon in May 2018 crossing the Finish with 3:31 & my first BQ!

Fast forward 5 years & I’ve ran 5 marathons (3:31, 3:57, 3:10, 3:14, 3:05) qualified for Boston 4x. The only race I didn’t qualify was at Boston 2019 when I ran injured. I ran my fastest marathon in May 2023 crossing the Finish with a 3:05 (which should’ve been a 2:57) at the age of 41.

So here is your reminder that age is only a & if you want something…work hard & go get it!!!

I believe in 30 days, age 41.5😉 I will run my fastest marathon & join the Sub 3 Marathoner group.

I truly believe the BEST is yet to come🤩
