IF I DIDN’T HAVE MY DANCE CLASSES, I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE.

A couple of years ago I was going through one of the hardest times for me work wise. I was totally burned out, but I still kept working. The pressure I was experiencing at was unbearable.

I har cronic neck and shoulder pain (which guess what, after I left that place, they almost went away).

I did not feel like myself, I could not recognize myself. I did not even feel like dancing, but I was working with a dance school and had my regular classes. I had a commitment. I had to show up.

And thanks to that, thanks to those classes I could actually make it through the week. Being forced to show up in a place that always MAKES me happy, was what saved me, It forced me to move, it forced me to do the thing I enjoyed the most. It forced me to FEEL.

Dancing was the only space I felt like myself. And I am so grateful I had that space. I am so grateful I was ‘’forced’’ to go, becuase after each class, even if for a little bit, I was feeling like myself again.

So, if you are going through a hard time, try to find a place where you can feel yourself even for a little. It doesn’t have to be dancing necessarily, it can also be taking a walk in the park, if you feel that being in contact with nature calms you down. Life can be hard and you can feel like you don’t have control over it. But the truth is, you do my friend.

And remember, even in the toughest day, a little movement can help you get through it. Take that dance class, go out for a walk. YOU GOT THIS! ❤️

Always say “Thank you”, even if you didn’t like the class.

Because whoever gave you the class, whether you like them or not, spent time, energies, knowledge to prep their class. You may not like them or their style, and that’s perfectly fine (we can’t like or be liked by everyone), but you should still appreciate their attempt to do their best, in the best way they knew or could on that day.

Yes, I’m saying this as an instructor, but also as someone who attends a lot of others instructors classes.

Let’s be a bit kinder and appreciate each other more!

Happy Friday! ☺️✨

PART 2: I’m ready to show more of myself, to be more vulnerable (a difficult word to say apparently 😅), if that also means helping others who are going through similar struggles, who are on their path of finding themselves again.

In particular, if you have noticed the change in my bio, this is going to be a space for all those women who want to feel like themselves again and trust their power ✨ Because, believe me when I say: you are magical and you have unlimited power. You just have to recognize it, accept it and embrace it!

What am I going to share then?
💃There is still going to be dancing videos and I’ll still show my classes: because movement is one of the most amazing ways to reconnect with yourself and to feel yourself. And I hope by seeing my videos you’ll get inspired to start dancing, not with me necessarily, but start dancing (even in front of your own mirror).

😜Funny videos, cause I think I’m funny and the world should know that 🤣 (Truth is, although I love to take those videos, many times I doubt myself so much before posting them. I think they are too silly, I think people will think they are too silly. But luckily, eventually, my crazy and not give a F side wins and therefore I publish them anyways ahahah).

✨I’ll share more of my story, my path, the things I have learned and that I’m still learning to find my true self and my true power.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a Career nor life coach and I am not pretending to be one. I’m just someone who has gone through a lot of stuff, who has built a completely different life from where she started, who’s been doing a lot of therapy and self-discovery and who thinks this is worth sharing.

I’d love for you to be part of this journey 💖
And I hope that somehow, the things I’ll be sharing will inspire you, help you, give you the little boost you might need to find yourself again. To give yourself the space and the worth you deserve.

This is Ilaria | Latindam, because one doesn’t exist without the other. I needed to finally add my name to my profile, because Ilaria is a pretty baddass too 😜 and she is the one who created Latindam and who created this space.

My army of shakeeeeeerrrrssas 💥

“Learn how to shake it” sounds like a joke… until you actually feel it.

Because this?
This is not just shaking 🍑

It’s release.
It’s reconnecting with your body.
It’s letting go of tension you didn’t even know you were holding.

As women, we carry so much in our hips: stress, emotions, stories.

And sometimes… the most powerful thing you can do is move it.

Perreo is not just a dance.
It’s freedom.

Honest question: What is stopping you from shaking it? Let me know in the comments! 👇

PART 1: Probably one the most difficult videos I have ever made. Maybe cause it’s me, sharing about myself in a very honest and vulnerable way, but this is exactly what I wanted. Because there is something I had to tell you, about myself and about this page and some upcoming changes.

I wasn’t even sure whether to leave the initial part, but I wanted you to show this too. Many people always told me I seemed the most confident person in the room. Believe me, we all have our struggles, our insecurities. We all doubt ourselves, I doubt myself a lot.

I hope to see more of you in this space, I hope you’ll appreciate the honesty and I hope somehow that this video (and what will come) will be of help, to someone 🫶

It feels very scary to hit “publish” but I’ll do it anyways.

Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow 😊

Miami, what to say…Miami is Miami 😁

The last picture is how ☀️ + 🌊 + 🏝️ make me feel = my soul gets exposed ✨🫰

Now, Miami can be as much fun as you want, but also as chill as you want it to be, it’s really up to you.

It can also be veeeery expensive. So, below I’m leaving you a few recommendations of places that won’t cost you an arm and a leg and the nicest clubs (if you are looking for Reggeton!!).

To eat 🥗🥪🌯 (good prices and pretty healthy options):
- Rosetta Bakery: cute Italia bakery, good pastries and coffees (you can also work from there)
-Las Olas Cafe (Cuban Deli, must go)
-Pura Vida (Best salads)
-Maman: my FAVE place, great for breakfast, brunch or lunch (also nice place to work at)

Clubs:
- Dirty Rabbit 👌 women enter for free until 11ish. It’s 80% Reggaeton, 20% commercial. You’ll love the deco.
-Perro Negro: extremely famous Reggaeton club, born in Medellin and now also in Miami and Madrid. Not my fave place tho, cause it’s very small inside and unless you get a table, you won’t have space to dance. Also the entrance is $40.

Gym:
-Go to the free beach gym in Muscle Beach. Best place ever, you can get all the weights and equipment for free. Safe area, you’ll be able to train in peace even if there are many people.

Save this post for later! 🫰

Yesterday was International Dance Day.

Yeah… I missed it.
But life happens and lately I’m trying to follow my own rhythm, not the one social media sets for me.

And still… I’ve been thinking a lot about dancing.

Even if it’s been a little less present in my life these past months, for different reasons…
it never really leaves.

In fact, you may not have seen me dancing in a class…
but I’ve been dancing in my room, in my living room, with my friends.

And even in moments where I felt like I couldn’t dance…
finding my way back to it, even alone, has meant everything.

Because dancing, for me, is that place.
The place I go back to, no matter what.

It’s where I express myself.
Where I reconnect.
Where I feel.

And it’s not always about what it looks like from the outside…
it’s about what it gives you on the inside.

So this is my way of celebrating it, a little late, but very real.

If you’ve been part of my dance journey… thank you.
For showing up, for sharing energy, for being part of this space.

If you haven’t yet… maybe one day you will.
And if not, I hope you find your space, your people, your way to express yourself.

I hope you find dancing.
Or that dancing finds you.

Happy Dance Day 💃

And a special thanks to my very own Reggaetoneras, for always being there and supporting me in so many different ways! And for always following my shenanigans! You mean a lot ❤️,,,,,

All the answers to these questions can be found in the video ☝️😁 But if you want the extended version, with even more insights, where I will make you listen to some songs to recognise the genre and more, then check out my YouTube channel (link in bio ✌️).
