Voor Raeven mochten we een bestaande tattoo verfijnen door subtiele, fijne lijnen toe te voegen. Het resultaat is zachter, eleganter en nog vrouwelijker, terwijl de oorspronkelijke tattoo behouden is gebleven.
Het zijn juist die kleine details die een groot verschil maken. Ik vind het altijd bijzonder om een tattoo nieuw leven te mogen geven en hem weer helemaal te laten passen bij wie iemand nu is.

Ik heb lang gedacht dat ik pas iets zou vertellen als alles achter de rug was. Na de operatie. Als ik kon zeggen: “Het is voorbij.”
Maar het leven besloot anders.
Doordat de operatie plotseling werd uitgesteld kreeg ik iets waar ik niet op had gerekend: tijd. Tijd om na te denken. Tijd om stil te staan. En misschien is dat precies de reden waarom ik nu toch begin met schrijven.
Niet omdat ik medelijden wil.
Niet omdat ik op zoek ben naar likes, aandacht of nieuwe volgers.
En al helemaal niet omdat ik mezelf zielig wil neerzetten.
Integendeel.
Ik heb juist enorm veel respect voor iedereen die zijn of haar verhaal deelt. Iedereen doet dat op zijn eigen manier en met zijn eigen reden.

Vandaag kwam er een egel op mijn pad. Een klein, kwetsbaar dier dat zich beschermt met stekels. En ineens besefte ik hoe vaak wij hetzelfde doen.
We bouwen muren om ons hart. Niet omdat we hard zijn, maar omdat het leven ons heeft geleerd voorzichtig te zijn.
De egel herinnert je eraan dat je jezelf mag beschermen, maar dat je je hart niet volledig hoeft af te sluiten. Achter iedere stekel schuilt zachtheid. Achter iedere pijn schuilt de mogelijkheid om weer te vertrouwen.
Ik geloof dat dieren niet zomaar op ons pad verschijnen. Ze zijn boodschappers van de natuur. Ze laten ons stilstaan bij wat we misschien al diep van binnen weten, maar nog niet durven voelen.
Vraag jezelf eens af:
Welk dier kom jij de laatste tijd steeds tegen?
Misschien probeert het je iets te vertellen.
Sta ervoor open. Luister. Voel. Het universum spreekt vaak in stilte.

De laatste tijd kom ik ze overal tegen. In bladeren, wolken, steentjes, het schuim van mijn koffie… en zelfs op de meest onverwachte plekken.
En weet je wat ik misschien nog wel het allermooiste vind? Mijn kinderen zien ze nu ook. Op de gekste en meest originele manieren. Alsof ze met andere ogen naar de wereld zijn gaan kijken.
Spiritueel wordt het vinden van hartjes vaak gezien als een teken van liefde, bescherming en bevestiging. Een herinnering dat je gedragen wordt. Dat je op het juiste pad bent. Dat het leven vóór je werkt en niet tégen je.
En nee… dat betekent niet dat het leven altijd makkelijk is.
Ook ik ga door moeilijke tijden. Er zijn dagen waarop ik het even niet weet, waarop dingen pijn doen of anders lopen dan ik had gehoopt. Vroeger vroeg ik me vaak af: “Waarom gebeurt dit?”
Maar die vraag stel ik mezelf bijna niet meer.
Ik vertrouw erop dat het universum een groter plan heeft. Dat ik misschien nu nog niet begrijp waarom iets gebeurt, maar dat de reden zich later zal laten zien.
Want het leven daagt ons niet uit om ons te breken, maar om te ontdekken hoe sterk we werkelijk zijn.
Het verschil zit vaak niet in wat je meemaakt, maar in hoe je ernaar kijkt.
Sommige mensen lijken alles aan te kunnen. Niet omdat ze geen tegenslagen hebben, maar omdat ze bewust kiezen voor een positieve mindset. Ze blijven het grotere plaatje zien. Ze zien een uitdaging niet als het einde, maar als een stap dichter naar de persoon die ze mogen worden.
En dat is precies hoe ik steeds meer in het leven probeer te staan.
Dus elke keer als ik weer een hartje vind, glimlach ik. Het voelt als een klein liefdevol knipoogje van het universum. Een herinnering om te blijven vertrouwen. Om vooruit te blijven kijken. En om te geloven dat alles gebeurt vóór mij, niet tégen mij.

Vandaag mocht ik een jonge vrouw begeleiden die afscheid heeft moeten nemen van de liefde van haar leven. Een verlies dat niet in woorden te vangen is. Een gemis dat elke dag voelbaar blijft.
Voor mij gaat een tattoo-sessie daarom nooit alleen over het zetten van een ontwerp. Het gaat over het verhaal erachter. Over het verdriet dat gezien mag worden. Over herinneringen die een plek verdienen. Over liefde die blijft bestaan, ook wanneer iemand fysiek niet meer aanwezig is.
Tijdens iedere sessie probeer ik op mijn eigen spirituele manier ruimte te creëren voor verwerking, verbinding en heling. Niet door antwoorden te geven, maar door te luisteren, te voelen en samen stil te staan bij wat er werkelijk leeft.
Deze tattoo is nu een blijvende herinnering geworden. Een symbool van liefde, verbondenheid en de kracht om verder te gaan terwijl je iemand altijd met je meedraagt.
